Xbox Series S Dolby Vision support

Hi Everyone,

Picked up an xbox series s (through some nice sales) and was hoping to use it as a plex client.

Currently having issues with Dolby vision.

  • It is enabled on the xbox, enabled on the hdmi format of the tv.
  • For Dolby Vision files without a HDR10 fallback whilst the file plays and triggers dolby vision on the tv, there is incorrect colours (green/pink)

  • For files with a HDR10 fallback, the files will play in normal HDR10 and not use dolby vision

From recent(-ish) updates to plex for xbox, was expecting to to support Dolby Vision and with audio passthrough (which is working fine) it would make for a great client if the DV issues are able to be resolved.

Is there any steps I can take? or is it accepted that DV doesnt quite work on Xbox yet?

I think DV is not supported yet.

I use a Xbox Series X.

For Dolby Vision files without HDR10 fallback, it triggers Dolby Vision on the TV and the color is right. But it shutters constantly. The dashboard shows the CPU usage and network traffic are both much higher than non-Dolby-Vision file even the actual bitrate of the Dolby Vision file is much lower than the non-Dolby-Vision one.

For Dolby Vision files with a HDR10 fallback, it behaves like yours, no Dolby Vision triggered.
