Xbox - Dolby Vision stopped working after last update

Server Version#:1.27.2.5929
Player Version#:Xbox 2.100.1.70
Client Version#:5.43.1

Xbox Series X - Dolby Vision files that previously worked fine do not play after the last app update, pops up playback error “file is unplayable, color space not supported”.

I noticed the Xbox app is no longer auto-switching to Dolby Vision mode when I’m at the info screen on a show, and it’s not labeled as Dolby Vision - it doesn’t seem to recognize it.

Seeing reports of this same thing on the LG TV app (based on client 5.43.1), a hot fix was issued there to correct it (5.43.2), but the Xbox app has not received an update yet.

I am also seeing this issue on the XBOX Series X. Everything worked great, and then the Xbox App must have done an update and its broken now.

A hot fix like the LG received would be great.

Let me know if I need to provide anything additional.

Hi all. We’re aware of this issue and are working on a fix.

Thanks for letting us know a fix is incoming!

Hi, will the issue be fixed for LG OLED65C7D too?

This should be resolved in the latest update.

@TuncTaylan I’m not sure, please check the release that went out today and post in the relevant thread if you’re still seeing issues.

@Moussa It does look like the file plays now, after the latest version. But it doesn’t have the right color scheme and options for the dolby vision file. Its all blue/green. The TV indicates its in dolby vision mode, so its trying, something still isn’t right. I tried to log the files from the Xbox to the server, but I can’t seem to locate that file. It looks like based on the Logs the Xbox and Plex are saying it supports dolby vision at one point, and then updating it to false at another point.

Let me know where I could find the xbox logs and I will attempt to upload them.

See attached picture though -

Thanks,

Plex media server logs, as indicated by the forum posts do not include the above messages. But attached now.

Hi @Moussa ,

I can confirm, that the version 5.44.3 fixed this issue (at least for me) on Xbox as well es on LG OLED65C7D.

Thanks…

Confirmed it has also fixed the issue for me, thank you!

@optimus506 logs from the client would be more useful for this particular issue. Please see Xbox One Logs | Plex Support and ensure you play back the problematic media while logging is enabled.

Attached are my Media Server Logs. I have attempted to follow all of those steps again and log the console settings to the media server, but I cannot tell if they are logging or not.

This is happening to all Dolby vision files at this time.

I will mention that I am running the 64-BIT Plex server version and just updated to the latest beta version this morning

Version 1.28.1.6057

Thanks,

I also as a test set up a 32-BIT plex server running the standard version and can still reproduce the issue. My SONY A90J doesn’t have an issue playing the dolby vision files and all the colors look correct, it just can’t passthrough the TRUEHD audio, which is why I’m trying to use the Xbox, it could do both Dolby Vision and TrueHD up until the 2nd to last update on the Xbox app.

Uploaded logs from the test 32-bit plex server as well.

I am still having issues, but I have tested a few different files and I’m realizing it is only occurring with MKV files, same movies/tv shows that are in mp4 play just fine with no color issues. the MKV files play they just don’t have the right color set up.

Sounds like my issue, although for me it appears to not be Dolby Vision or MKV related but rather HEVC encoding that suddenly broke and cant play proper colour anymore.
