Xbox Series X and .ass subtitle playback is buggy

.ass Subtitles do display on my series x plex client, however, no formatting happens. You just get basic white subtitles.

For example on my iphone app, during the intro the text is red, with the kareoke style subs.

Is this a limitaiton of the xbox not supporting the codec, or is this the app bugging out/ not supporting?

PMS supports full ASS subtitles, but most clients (like XBox) only support basic formatting. In your subtitle settings, using “auto” or “image only” will cause the ASS to get converted by PMS to basic text without formatting. IF you want formatting, you need to set it to “always” burn.
