Plex Android TV client can't not display .ass subtitle

Dear developers,
I’m running my Plex server on a QNAP nas and everything is fine.
But the android tv version of Plex can’t display external .ass/.ssa subtitles.
The video is streamed directly and the subtitle is correctly selected (observed from server panel), but the subtitle just not displayed on the tv screen.
But if I use a .srt external subtitle, it’s displayed correctly.
Can anybody tell me what’s wrong?
Many thanks.

Edit 1: I have also installed Plex client on my iphone, which also has issue when playing video with external .ass subtitle, I have to change the Burn Subtitles option to Only image formats in order to correctly play the video, but lost the advanced format of the subtitle.

And I have a windows Plex client installed too, that’s the only client which can correctly display the .ass format subtitle.

I have the same problem…

Do your server transcode when Burn Subtitles is NOT on Only image formats? If not, that’s probably the issue. The Windows Plex client have .ass native support, thus it doesn’t transcode and does direct play.
Also, could you try using Plex through Kodi on your Android TV to see if it displays the subtitles? I use it to avoid transcoding as Kodi player has .ass native support.
