XBOX360 app problems

Firstly thank you all for reading this and I'm sorry if I've placed this in the wrong place - its my first post.

 

I've setup the plex server on a Windows machine and can access the content on my windows phone just fine. Both internally on the local wifi and via the 4G network.

 

I have suffered a world of pain trying to get the Xbox360 app going. To begin with it would just open and then crash.

 

I've then stated by reading through the forums. I have therefore set the ports to static and ensured that I have NAT loopback on. I've also allocated the address for the PC and setup the rules for port fowarding. Just for the sake of it I also allocated an address for the xbox so that if I ever get this to work it will hopefully stay working!

 

As mentioned I can see the content externally (via the phone which I only checked after making the changes above). After doing this I did get further. I was asked to link my XBoc360 and plex accounts via the 4 digit pin. I did this and could see the xbox on the plex server. It then crashed.

 

Everytime I boot the app on the xbox now I get the message, "This feacture is temporarily unaailable. Please try again later. Status Code: 8b050008-00000000-00000000. I've been trying for serveral days and of couse tried rebooting the PC (and plex server) a number of times.

 

Does anyone have any ideas on how I proceed from here?

 

On a side question I've been considering switching to an Apple TV. I don't have one (hence I'd much rather get it going on the XBox, but if the ansewer is "its very much in a development phases, and it unreliable right now". Then it would be good to know either way. An of course that assumes the Apple TV system works well?

Do you have an active Plex Pass subscription? This is required to use the app (or being part of a Plex Home).

Since you are getting an error from Live see this thread: [here](http://forums.xbox.com/xbox_forums/xbox_support/f/9/t/1571010.aspx) and [here](http://forums.xbox.com/xbox_forums/xbox_support/xbox_360_support/f/9/t/1532837.aspx) is another (this one suggest removing profile and redownloading it).

It suggest their is an outstanding update for the xbox that needs to be installed. Really this seems like more of an issue with your xbox or account so contacting xbox support is probably going to get you better results.

Thanks for the message. I’m new to this so please bear with me. I have an account with Plex(as I can login) but I don’t have a paid account. I just signed up is that not enough? On the XBox side I only have a free account as well( not gold or silver).


Is it due to one of these that Plex won’t work?


Just to add I have to log into the XBox live to watch Netflix etc, that always works fine. I can also use it with my Windows phone. Also I have found that I CAN watch Plex if I use the XBox videos app(it’s very buggy though). It’s just the Plex app that has issues.

Yes, you need Plex Pass (paid account) to use any of the preview apps (Xbox 360, Xbox One, Playstation, etc).

The native xbox app would be using the dlna off the server, I haven't used it for quite some time, but last I remember it worked ok. Not sure what you mean about a free account not gold or silver (since the I think silver is the free account). You do need to be logged into xbox live for pretty much all apps to work.

Hi, thank you again, you’ve been really helpful. I’ve looked up the prices. I’m wondering if I did buy the Apple TV, would it be covered under the apple app purchase (about $6) and hence can use that instead? The Apple TV would pay for itself in about 2 years if that’s the case.


On the XBox, your almost certainly right about the passes. I haven’t used it much.
