XML and PLEX EPG's at the same time

Plex doesnt seem to be letting me add additional tuners that have XML EPG’s when my existing tuner lineup is using Plex EPG. I’ve read somewhere that this is a known issue that is being worked on I believe. Anyone any idea when this bug will be sorted out?
I am trying to add some IPTV channels from Australia to my current UK setup but my UK setup uses the BT TV guide from Plex and it doesnt give me the option to select an XML guide source to use with my IPTV virtual tuner (xTeVe)

I use Xteve to get my my mixed guide data in to Plex. I am in the US and use a separate guide services to get my local channels as xmlTV that is imported in to xteve along with my IPTV guides.

I could do that but Plex is supposed to be able to do this natively after the update to LiveTV/DVR. It was noted as a bug that will be fixed i seem to remember. Just waiting to be able to test and implement it

Yes the feature has been added but I don’t think it has been released yet not even for beta but I could be wrong.

multi tuner, multi epg has been released but you cant mix Plex EPG and XML EPG. Has to either be mixed Plex EPG or mixed XML EPG.

This bug or should I say this feature was apparently explictely introduced with Plex Web 4.57.4

I just discovered this issue while adding a new tuner. It’s extremely frustrating that we cannot choose between XMLTV or PLEX EPG as a source with each tuner independently. Please make this possible soon.

Setup another server if you want two tuners with different guides like that.

why should we? This feature should be available. Your “workaround” is not a practical solution to the problem and doesnt solve the issue of having one single guide from mixed sources.

Plex has stated numerous times this will NOT be supported. So… my “workaround” is all you have… otherwise create the XMLTV guide to support all your channels. Simple.

Do you have links to these statements? As far as I have read it this is exactly what plex are looking to add to LiveTV functionality with multiple tuner/multiple guide sources and its just something that they havent enabled as yet. I cant see why they wouldnt support it as it should be fairly simple to implement. it is just a case of merging two data sources. Plex guide is already pulling xml data from Gracenote so why not just add the ability to specify other xml data sources as well?

Multiple tuners / lineups has already been added and works just fine but only supports Plex EPG or XMLTV not both.

There is absolutely no reason to mix Plex EPG with XMLTV when you can customize your lineup any way you want with XMLTV alone.

This was also posted above.

that “fix” that you have referred to was fixing a bug that allowed multiple dvrs to be created so that they could then implement the multiple guide sources function.
of course there is a reason to mix plex guide AND xml guide. it allows you to have a readily available guide source from Gracenote and then add in customised channels. if you have to create your own xml to cover everything then it becomes very time consuming having to manage any channel changes etc every time something changes. if you are using a guide from gracenote with some additional channels from an xml source then you only have to manage the custom channels from the xml source rather than all the channels. Please dont presume just because it isnt an issue for you that means it isnt an issue for others. Plex is supposed to be a single source for all your media needs and as such this would be a useful feature for their users to simplify adding custom channels and would be pretty easy to introduce .

There’s two fixes in that release note.

Plex absolutely does NOT support mixing Plex EPG with XMLTV. It’s one or the other. They do however support multiple lineups using either Plex EPG or XMLTV but not both at the same time.

You’re completely reading that new feature wrong and you’re reading the release note wrong too. The second fix was because the link to add XMLTV “by itself” was missing in some instances. Not “fixing a bug that allowed multiple dvrs to be created so that they could then implement the multiple guide sources function”

Tag a Plex Employee. They will confirm.

@elan can you confirm the existence of or planned existence of a mixed PlexGuide/xmltv option within LiveTV/DVR?

@Grooverider2016 this is cire12’s project and that probably would be the right person to tag.

@cire12 can you advise?

@Grooverider2016 As for the answer I haven’t tested it myself and know that you can add XML by zeroing out the ZIP code and I have mixed my hdhomeruns with Xteve to test without using a XML( labeled under DirecTV and manually assigned channels). I have since rolled back the server because there’s problems with the epg. Also remember you still have a channel limit cap, I forget how much it is around 400 I think.

so you are saying you have combined the Plex (Gracenote) guides and xml (from xteve) directly within LiveTV?

So iptv stuff is not my strong suit, as I am an hdhomerun user. But I had my hdhomerun Primes, connects, and Xteve tuner all on the same server as shown above. Xml is for the guide if I’m not mistaken and you can assign it a local Gracenote guide and manually assign the channels like I did under the DirecTV guide. Worked perfect for my test but I’ve since deleted it and went back just just my HDhomeruns as I’m old school haha.
