Multi-lineup Support Now Available

Just a quick heads up for Live TV & DVR users that might have missed it, today’s 4.57.2 release for web now includes support for multiple lineups.

Have a channel from a distant market that wasn’t included in your local lineup? Add a second zip code to include that locations lineup and match that channel.

Have a mix of OTA and CableCARD tuners? Provide each with the appropriate lineup.

Live in a Goldilocks zone where you can point two antennas in two different directions to pull channels from two distinct markets? Apply the appropriate lineup to each antenna/tuner combination.

That’s a bug that should be fixed tomorrow. As a temporary workaround you can select a country that isn’t covered by Plex’s guide data provider and you’ll be directed to the XMLTV setup flow.

Does it allow you to reorder channels? Surely the case for this option you find on every other PVR is even stronger now.

There has been support for multiple lineups for some time. You just had to be a little tricky to be able to add more than one DVR.

With the new release, my existing extra lineups are missing. I can’t even delete them so I can add them in the new interface. Any advice? Can I roll back my plex, remove the “unsupported lineups”, then upgrade plex and add them in the official multi-lineup ?

Access the Live TV & DVR settings through the embedded web client (http://server_ip:32400/web or http://localhost:32400/web if on the system locally); it’s still a couple of versions behind the hosted web client and still shows the old Live TV & DVR settings. Make your deletions there and then re-add your DVR via the new interface.

Very cool Philip. Neat trick

My early feeling is that I love how the country selector is right up front. It seems like the detection of sources is much more stable.

Can you suggest a country? And are you sure this bug-fix update is coming tomorrow?

BTW, chose Latvia and added my xml epg. But now the channels do not show up in the Live TV area, and there is only one Live TV menu item.

The source you’re looking for is called Live TV & DVR, if you had previously deleted and rebuilt your DVR then you’ll probably have to re-pin the source from the More menu option.

I see it now, one Lineup for all EPGs. I have used this system extensively for the last few years with up to 5 lineups mixing OTA and XTeVE proxies. I have some useful real-world feedback. Would love a 15 min zoom call to walk you through what I am seeing. In short, XLM EPG not working, and display issues on the channel selector.

I’m on version 4.57.2 and, although the Live TV & DVR settings look different (3 columns with Tuner Devices, Guide Channels, and DVR), I can’t find the option to add a second lineup to a device.

Do I need to do something to enable this or am I looking in the wrong place?

Edit: I think I’ve got it now, after watching the YouTube video. So you need to delete and recreate the DVR to do this, is that correct?

it currently lets me set up mulit source/multi lineups, but only displays channels from the first source set up.

So we still can’t use one device with Plex EPG and one with XMLTV? No matter which one I setup first it won’t allow me to choose another option when doing the second device, I’m always stuck with the first choice (xmltv or epg)

I thought that was part of this new update

I just tried and it seems you are right. It is an improvement over the previous experience, however it does not match my needs. I would like Plex to consolidate the EPGs from Gracenote (i think this is where it’s pulled from) as well as external EPG sources.

The only work around I have found is to use Xteve to consolidate EPGs and manually assign them to different tuners in Plex. It may be an initial pain to set up and tweak, but it has been stable for me using an HDhomerun for OTA, Xteve for m3u iptv, DizqueTV for pseudo TV and fHDHR for one of their plugins the last few months. I have also tested this method with Locast2Plex, but felt it was unnecessary since Locast is SD.

Hello,

thanks for adding this option!

But it’s possible to change channel numbers when i use multiple epg ?

Thanks!

Thanks for the feature.

However, now when I set recordings it won’t let me differentiate between OTA and Cable Card channel?

For instance, I want to record OTA NBC Saturday Night Live and it forces me to use HD Prime and not the 4k OTA tuner. I set it to record via program guide where I can see the OTA channel, though.

you can restrict the recording via Channel number so should be able to force it to record from a specific channel that way.

Also in terms of tuners Plex seems to favour the latest added tuners so it works from the bottom of the list up.

Does anyone know if this new version supports channels with no guide info? I want to be able to show box office stuff (PPV live) but most PPV channels dont have a constant guide available. I could i guess use xTeVe now to create a few channels and use their psuedo guide but that may be a bit of a pain in the ■■■■. Would be nice in Plex LiveTV that you could just enable a channel and assign it a blank guide with no data.

Thanks Grooverider2016, however, I tried that when I set up the recording. It only showed the cable card channel, and not the OTA. Then, I went to the guide, to manually record from the OTA station, and also went through the set up and it still only showed it on the cable card channel (1011 NBC vs 11.1 NBC)
