XPlay (WebOS)

is XPlay still a nice option in 2017? (actively developed & supported?)

I’m not sure what your problem is (not in any way meant offensive). My experience, and from what i’ve read so far the experience of a lot of Xplay users, is that Xplay does play a lot of subs without transcoding. The overall experience is better with Xplay, browsing is smoother and the whole app is better looking than original the original PlexApp.

Maybe a previous message in this forum thread will enlighten how the not-transcode / transcode system works. ( http://forums.plex.tv/discussion/comment/1334818/#Comment_1334818 )

Hello
I thought that XPlay allowed to play videos with subtitles without transcoding but apparently for certain subtitles, it is obliged to transcode.
So, the video jerks.
I have Plex on Synology DS216 +
Heberger image

there are some nuances of how I (XPlay) can handle embedded subtitles … the app decides how it can handle them and show the possible variants. Everything depends from TV OS (webOS) … even because of this functionally I had some problems with LG but after a small skirmishes with them it seams that the allowed me to continue using at least this (cutted) functionality … but the question for how long and will this functionality available if I register a major update as a separate app (will use the same activation status as original XPlay) or not … that is the question

It may be better but all my files are MKV h264 srt softsubed and almost all on AAC so i can use my old laptop as a server with no transcoding, my Samsung with official APP works well but the LG transcode the subtitles, i gave a try on xplay only because of that and till now all subs are being transcoded

any issue with the new version of pms? i updated last nigh and now my 2015 LG is failing to connect after selecting my user

I am using the last stable version and the login work after selecting user.

Is there a known issue with the progress bar? It’s consistently around 2mins off (slow) on every video file I have. Can provide more info if needed.

Yes I have this issue too.

@bublikoff Why isn’t it possible to choose the size of embedded subtitles in mkv’s? Is that something you can implement?

Hello. I have some performance issues when watching 4k hevc 10 Bit.mkv files via LAN on LG 55UB850V web os 1.4. I use direct play. Same movie works via usb on the TV. I am not sure whats the reason, xplay or my NAS power. The files are about 60 Gb and the LAN connection should be enough with 100Mbit connection(all components have 1gbit lan.but the lg have 100 mbit). Anybody have the issues or experience with it. The movies pictures and sound stutter.

Update: With my new TV 65Uh950V with WebOS 3 it works without performance issues. Also Xplay is loading very fast.

I have 49UB850v and i had the same issue but now not. I downgrade TV to WebOS 1.3 version 04.30.10 and i dont have any issue.

hi bublik, is there an ETA to have advanced filters working again?

This is a known issue. @bublikoff (the man behind Xplay) is working on it, or has perhaps fixed it by now. We are all waiting on the update, but LG is slowing it all down, claiming fake errors and stuff. It is an ongoing struggle. LG seems to like the guys behind the officieal Plex app more, while a lot of users dislike the app.

How can I download (and maybe pay for it) XPlay app? On the store or only through USB? Thanks

Ps: I have a LG TV.

Hi Sergey,

Believe it or not, authentication is working again without any changes from my side.

Any idea ?
PM me)))

I’ve noticed the the thumbnails for video quality ratings and studio icon is not displaying when viewing movie description on plex cloud server.
Any way to fix this bug. Xplay seems to beat plex official app as plex official wont connect to plex cloud servers. I really dont know why xplay also direct plays videos alot better than plex official. I wish Plex would hire the developer of xplay

Apologies for the newb question - but I can’t find Plex or xPlay on the LG Store. I’ve read in a few places that there are issues with Plex for WebOS 3. And that xPlay is having issues getting approved from LG App store too.
I would like to install the xPlay clent on my new LG WebOS 3 tv ($#LH5700-UD running Software Version 04.10.04 … I’ve downloaded the xPlay client from https://xplay.itkey.ru/downloads/XPlay-1.1.6-20160615.zip
but how do I sideload it onto my LG TV via USB? Just format a usb stick as FAT, then extract the ZIP file onto the usb stick and insert into TV? I am hoping I don’t have to get an LG dev account to do this…

Hi,

I’ve a problem with some remuxes where no audio is being played. The movies in which the problem occurs, have either a DTS-HD Master Audio or a Dolby TrueHD audio track. Most of the movies with DTS-HD Master Audio and Dolby TrueHD audio tracks direct plays just fine, it’s only some of the movies. The movies with that problem play just fine in the official Plex app, but the official app trancodes both the video and audio.

I’m using the newest versions of Xplay and the official Plex app on my 55" LG B6.

Thanks

LH5700 is webOS based TV? Nothing about it here: LG 43LH5700 | 43 Inch LH5700 | Full HD TV | LG HK
