Ok man,
I will gladly buy the app… thank you for your efforts!
keep up the good work!
Does XPlay now work also on new TVs with WebOS 3.5?
Is there anything one should be aware of bevore buying a TV? For example do all LG TVs support DTS without transcoding?

Is there any way to force the update? My TV is connected to the internet but is still on version 1.2.8.201702x
Hard to say … current “online update” was a test of ability to do that without dealing with LG QA. And yes I do see that some users still have “store version”. I’ll probably push all changes since last store update to LG store.
Actually … for the moment it’s not update … its better to say that it just run main app file from Internet every time it (re)starts. And in case it fails to download it it uses local version (old/version from store)
I think I’ve found out why updates weren’t appearing for me.
All i did was sign out and then signed back in. it did the standard 4 digit plex code link and updated on restart.
Now i’m running “version 20170508.1.2.8 (ONLINE)”
hope this might help anyone in the same situation.

Just removed keeping aspect ratio functionality … at least for a while … until I can add option to choose to keep or not aspect ratioWhy would anyone watch a stretched video? I think the TV handles it fine as it is. What’s the reason you want to add this?
Some ppl want “stretched” video … but some dont like black bars

Hi,
Using Xplay on my LG with WebOS 3.0. All play perfectly, except these two:
- I use Vietnamese subtitle (SRT), encoding in UTF-8, but many character specific for VNese as “ế”, “ừ”… display differently from other normal ascii characters. Guessing this is due to the font being used not cover those. Do you have any suggest to bypass this.
- I have some 3D movie, which has to combine with ASS subtitle to display correctly in 3D mode, but when using ASS sub, it requires plex server transcode, that my server not powerful enough to support.
Thanks in advance.
I need at least a sample subtitles file for tests

Helo, I’m using LG 42LS575S-ZD with firmware 04.62.12 and trying to find a way to connect to my PLEX SERWER. Unfortunately there is no one app in LG App ( Plex, XPlay etc ) for my TV. I’m using other LG modern model in second bedroom and there I installed PLEX app and XPlay app, by LG App Store and everything works perfect. So I dowloaded file from http://xplay.itkey.ru/downloads/XPlay-1.1.6-20160615.zip, extracted and wrote on FAT32 USB drive. As procedure said I logged to my LG account put in USB drive wait and check, but there wasn’t XPlay app. In the same way i extracted PlayZ App, and application is running but cannot connect to server ( probably it’s to old - 2014 for server 1.5.5.3634 ). I can tell there is one difference in directory structure and files PlayZ vs XPlay ( PlayZ /lgapps/installed/237576/ - png and xml files ) and ( /developer/apps/usr/palm/applications/com.itkey.plexclient/ - html ison js files0 ) Please help ! I spent a a lot of evening today looking google flex and other forums and cannot find answer how to use any Plex client app on my TV.
Thanks in advance
As I can understand LG 42LS575S-ZD is a NetCast based TV.
NetCast is not supported … at least officially … because Ive no were to test and debug the app

@bublikoff I have a problem with the latest XPlay version. It hangs when I try to play a transcoded video, a version without transcoding plays fine. Here is my setup:
- Plex 1.5.5.3634 on PC
- XPlay 20170503.1.2.8 (ONLINE)
- LG 55UB850V with 05.05.55 firmware (WebOS 1.4.0-2330)
EDIT:
After some tests, i’ve tried versions:
- 1.5.4.3596
- 1.5.3.3580
- 1.5.1.3520
- 1.4.4.3495
- 1.4.3.3433
- 1.3.4.3285
And none of them work… I’ve seen something interesting. When I transcode because of subtitles it works fine, but when because of changing the audio track XPlay just hangs and Plex server doesn’t even start transcoding.
So my guess would be the changes to WebOS 3.0 that broke the transcoding support on older WebOS versions.
Ive fixed it … two days ago. Just some copy-paste issue =(

I use xplay for a few days xplay. For a TV series after the end of an episode, the next automatically starts. Is it possible to disable this function?
In current version “NO”.
Can you explain why you need such functionality? Actually it used to behave this way at the beginning but ppl asked me to change the behavior to current variant

Hi bublikoff, I have a question.
My brother and I have XPlay installed on different TVs on the same network. When we reproduce some video on the server, Plex only recognizes one user, not two. Is this an issue, something from the server or from XPlay?
Try to change user-agent string in settingsDont work.
Will check tomorrow

It should … why not? It will probably work on webOS 4 … 5 and etc … the only problem could be in LG approving procedure. They approve the apps on TV platforms not models. So some TV could be not approved and it does not mean that it can not work on this TV model. It just was not approved by LG QA.
Is there anything one should be aware of bevore buying a TV? For example do all LG TVs support DTS without transcoding?
Just buy latest LG model with latest webOS version. webOS 3.x will allow you to switch between audio tracks without transcoding. What about embedded subtitles … can say the same about it. LG have quite weak functionality and in most cases it will probably require transcoding to display it.

Does this apply to all kinds of subtitles? Or for example is an extra .srt file fine?
My current LG (5 years old) has problems only with graphical subtitles, like .sub/.idx.
I’ve been using Xplay for a couple of days now, but suddenly we’re experiencing problems with audio tracks. Selecting any other audio track than the default requires transcoding, this has never happened in the past 3 days. I was just about the purchase the app but this issue is withholding me because my sons want to view movies in their own language instead of the default English language.
We have a LG 55B6V, Plex runs on a Synology DS213j. I did not change any of the configuration: everything worked just fine yesterday evening, suddenly it didn’t work this morning. All that has happened last night is that power was cut off for both the Synology server and LG TV.
After rebooting and reinstalling both Plex and Xplay, everything seems to be working fine again. So no need to answer my previous post
I just bought the application, thanks for your continuous work on this awesome piece of work. It works like a charm!

External subtitles (textual only) processed using own functionality. Cant say its better than system functionality but it has some pros compared with system one.
As I know graphical subtitles are not supported at all … but dont remember exactly. As I remember they support wide range textual formats
@risesa
Try now … 1.2.8.20170514 should handles it better
(deleted post)
Hello. SRT external subs doesnt work on my LG uh635 TV. Used to work but now it just doesnt show any subs
To clarify a little. So PGS works if I transcode it but if I use srt external it starts the movie but doesnt show any text at all
