XPlay (WebOS)

I see this has been asked over and over. Hate to ask but I have to. For me, this app won’t update. I purchased the app and uninstalled. It still shows that it is up to date with a date of February 7 2017. How can I update this? I have an LG 55UH6150 with WebOS 3.0.

Current “online” update was a kind of test actuality. It downloads a small app file every time you start the app … but tries to do that only for 3 seconds only after timeout it fallback to local (installed from LG apps store).
You should check the actual app version on settings screen.

Any 4K content I try to stream just craps out every 3 to 4 seconds for 10 seconds or more at a time. Any help would be appreciated.
Does your TV support 4K content? or you just have Full HD support?

Thanks for implementing Remember PIN feature. I’m really happy !
You are welcome … the only problem is that I need to translate it before I can push it to LG store to make this update permanent

I’m really excited about the new UI. Very much looking forward to giving it a whirl!

Thank you!

I need to resolve some problems before I can share it for tests … I’ll probably add button in current version to start the new one from online

First of all: FOLKS, this update is NOT released yet! 20170514.1.2.8. (online) IS still the latest release version!

Questions/Feedback to new UI: Looks good so far, but do I have to click the “up” and “down” arrow buttons to scroll inside a TV show episode list or can I use my LG Scroll mouse of the magic remote? I hate much clicking, and I think the clickable buttons are a bit too small. Also, do I have to click every time to access the left main menu that is faded in and out? it would be nice if it´s appearing automatically when I move the mouse pointer to the far left.

You can use channel scrolling or wheel on magic remote for scrolling elements lists.
It was just demo video and clicks were more understandable for other ppl what is going on for the moment.
Buttons size can be tuned but overall UI elements a bit bigger if compare to the old UI.
Sid bars appears automatically … but as I use webOS emulator its a bit buggy and slow Ive to find the right place to move mouse to trigger side bar

Firstly, which version is the latest? Can you please indicate how I can update it? It would appear that many people have deleted and re-installed, but this didn’t work.
Secondly, I have just updated my PMS to Version 1.7.4.4017 and now the playback via XPLAY and stability seems to be a problem.

LG OLED55B6 & WebOS 3.0
I do use the app with 1.7 without any visible problems

looks great, cant wait for it to be ready.
any update on controlling from a tablet / phone using the plex app?

First of all I need to finish UI design and basic functionality.
After it will be finished I can add new functionality … at least new sources has “space” for it without making extra mess there

Same here. Brazilian LG shop. I have a LG EG9100. And im having some issues with the aspect ratio, cuz all movies stream on full screen and i would like to see it on 16:9. I dont know how to fix it.

Does any body have the same problem? We (@dedeibc and me) have tried fix this issue … Ive tried the app on my webOS 1.x and Ive no problem with it but @dedeibc 's TV just stretch the media content to the full screen

Same for myself, uninstalled and reinstalled, UK shop if that makes a difference.

In fact my xplay is showing last update date as 3rd of Feb 2017…

Hello again.

Any ideas on how to force the update?

I’m still seeing 1.2.8 version (updated 02/03/2017) even after uninstalling and reinstalling from LG Content Store.

Please check a few post upper about online update

New UI looks neat! I second the opinion that the loader screen is very obvious and would rather have something more subtle. Also does it support actor commentaries/extras and other plex pass features? I like how it is at the bottom of the info on the current version. Maybe you can draw some inspiration from how the current web player UI is setup where when you scroll down it shows actors, extras, related movies… and so on? Rotten tomatoes support would be cool too

It does support trailers (extras) … or any type of extras that have “clip” type … interview, trailers and etc … as I can understand any video content.
Actually u should understand that web UI and TV UI can not be the same because of different type of interaction with users. I can not make UI looks 100% like web UI. But I can add the same hidden side bar with for ex actors or similar media linking and etc

P.S. Noticed in the video a “remote control” settings page. is that for possible mobile app control ive been hoping for on webos 3?!?
Ive not tested it yes … but I suppose its possible for webOS … but not sure for the moment. Just did not have exp with such things before

what about LiveTV support ?, and none air mouse support ?
Hi Andy
As I dont use LiveTV functionality I’ve no idea how it works … need more time for debugging PMS for better understanding.
Air mouse is supported and even recommended or its better to say regular remotes are supported but not recommended as they dont give full comfort of using UI … too much buttons clicking

Thanks for getting back to me. The version on the app settings screen reads:
Version 20170703.1.2.8(ONLINE)

And yes, it is a 4k TV. The only thing that is working for me is taking my 4K files, tossing them on a hard drive and hooking them up to the TV. I can then use the photo & video option to watch them. The weird part is that I’m plugged in on a 150MB/S connection.

I can stream Kodi 4K content without issue but anything on my Plex server that is in 4K bombs out.

TYVM for your patience and good work, man!

The issue is: my medias are, mostly, 16:9 aspect ratio on bsplayer/windows media player (two black bars, above and at the bottom of the screen) and very good quality.

If i play them on plex official app, it keep its quality and aspect ratio. And xplay used to be like this until two or three weeks ago. But now, xplay is stretching the image to fit on fullscreen. Ive tried to change aspect ratio on my tv seetings, but didnt work.

Any sugestions?

Definitely also check the internet speed on your TV itself, by browsing to www.fast.com for instance. It might work for your other devices, but the TV probably has a 100mbit ethernet card and WiFi might be poor. 4K works fine here over XPlay.

That’s my problem. I had it in a few versions before, then it disappear. Now it’s again…

Hi Bublikoff. Sorry to say, but the subtitle problem is back :frowning:. Would it be possible to check/uncheck the feature that you are testing? It does not add good things in my end (will post a pic). Sorry bout’ this, but it is really a problem.

Here is the problem. Have only tested with internal subs. It’s there on every film!

Yeah, can reproduce the misplacement of internal subs (SRT) inside the “black” area of a widescreen movie, making them absolutely unreadable since the adjusting feature is only working for external subs…

K.

Feature Request.

Allow turning on/off of subtitle via the Color Button drop down menu

Allow toggling audio tracks via the Color Button Drop Down Menu

Hi @bublikoff

I hope you could also hide the playback controls when pausing the movie. Maybe after 2-3secs of non-activity you hide it, then when any key in the remote is pressed or movement of the pointer, then you show the controls back. Because sometimes we pause the movie to read the subtitles carefully and it’s being covered by the playback control. And sometimes when we pause the movie, we don’t want to see how much time is left, it’s a bit of a spoiler to us
