XPlay (WebOS)

Or it’s to take a quick picture with a phone of the paused screen to share with someone (yes, I’m very sure there are more elegant ways to do that).

Yesterday I pay one license and I have Version 20170703.1.2.8(ONLINE)… I Have 2160p webOS 3.0 TV, Best grettings!.

Let me start off by saying this app is great! It’s easy to use and handles most media very well.

However, I’ve noticed that it does not passthrough all audio streams properly. I have struggled to get Dolby Atmos to pass through reliably. It works on a handful of titles, but for most of them, ends up at my AVR as 5.1. Do you have any plans to add support for TrueHD/DTS?

Any HD audio format will not work simply because ARC/optical doesn’t support HD audio (yet). That’s why your AVR falls back to “normal” 5.1. XPlay probably plays it fine but it’s the TV that can’t process it to the receiver. You’re going to need an external mediaplayer for that and connect it straight to the AVR if you want that.

Drop your problem here and maybe we can help. I really hope @bublikoff will have time to work and further improve XPlay (although it’s already pretty good), because he seems very busy. Hopefully he will open-source it if he won’t keep working on it. We need XPlay!

Hi @FransTwisk. Please see my issue further up on this page. (Https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/comment/1458957/#Comment_1458957 )

In general, the issue is that Xplay has trouble handling videos which has multiple subtitles downloaded through agents(subzero, opensubtitles etc). For example, If I choose to play one of my videos with a downloaded English sub, then for some reason Xplay plays a french downloaded sub instead.

The same video with the same subtitle plays perfectly in the official Plex-app(except for the transcoding).

Cheers!

That is a weird issue, mostly because I have a similar setup where I use Sub-zero to download (multiple) subtitles as well and never experienced this. Maybe tweak your settings in Sub-Zero? Be sure to save the subtitles in the same folder.

Hi,

Sub-zero has always been saving the subtitles next to the video. But since all other plex-players except Xplay can play the subtitles correctly, my guess is there is something weird in how Xplay handles multiple subtitles. Is there anything else I can try?

/Jakob

I really don’t know what the difference would be then, never had any trouble with external subs and I use them a lot. Maybe @bublikoff can clarify?

@bublikoff Where do I go for official support? I can’t get Xplay to work as intended, and you won’t answer here or on the official email on your site. How do I go about to get a refund?

Seems Mr. @bublikoff is busy or on vacation at thze moment. Give the man a rest

Yes well I don’t mind developers having vacations, but I first contacted him a month ago and still no answer. The app has been useless since day 1 for me, and there is no word on if I ever will get help/a refund.

Sorry if that is being impatient…

Edit: I absolutely would be more patient if it wasn’t a paid app. My expectations for support go WAY up if it is.

I have to agree with @jakobahman here: if it’s paid you have to at least return some kind of support. Even the bare minimum of at least replying/refund would already help. Still hoping XPlay becomes open source

Ahh thank you for that. If I remember correctly, I did have Atmos work on a certain video, I will check to be sure.

Is there anywhere I can look to track this issue? Is it a problem with the ARC standard or LG TV’s?

It’s a limitation of ARC in HDMI 2.0b (which these TV’s use) and will be added in HDMI 2.1. Some manufacturers have implemented their own version of it though which might allow it (on specific hardware). The 2017 OLED series of LG have support for Atmos (but might be on specific hardware combinations only) but not other HAD audio formats.

No, it doesn’t and most likely will take a while before it will support it (if ever). @bublikoff will have a definitive answer on the later though. Not even sure the original Plex Player for WebOS supports this.

Can anyone confirm XPlay still fully works with the latest PMS 1.7.6.4058? Thanks!

Tested 1.7.6.4058 myself, seems to work fine!

please bublikoff add support for arabic subtitles without having to convert it to UTF-8 , and could you please add the attached font for arabic subtitles?

There is no weblink. You can install it through the LG App Store on your LG TV if it has WebOS. You can unlock the trial by buying the the app on https://xplay.itkey.ru

Great app and easy to use on TV.

It would be a great feature to add the possibility to add movie trailer playback via you tube. I can add trailer url in the plex server, but does not show up in the X Play app. I noticed that support for the app is not really top notch. It’s like this Russian developer just made the app, but never really bothers to add some update or new feature. It does what it is supposed to do and that’s about it.

Hello,

Seems like I am finally able to see some srt subtitles.
However, I face the following issue. I have some content that has several subtitles (forced and not forced).
Only one of the subtitles will play, the other always requires a transcoding. Any idea why? It works just fine with the web version…
I tried deactivating the “forced” flag and it didn’t change anything.
Also, is it possible to have the forced flag be notified in the UI? Like SRT - English Forced and not just SRT English?

Thank you for this great soft!
