XPlay (WebOS)

Hello,

Seems like I am finally able to see some srt subtitles.
However, I face the following issue. I have some content that has several subtitles (forced and not forced).
Only one of the subtitles will play, the other always requires a transcoding. Any idea why? It works just fine with the web version…
I tried deactivating the “forced” flag and it didn’t change anything.
Also, is it possible to have the forced flag be notified in the UI? Like SRT - English Forced and not just SRT English?

Thank you for this great soft!

I’ve never gotten videos with multiple subtitles to work with Xplay. :frowning:

Yesterday I also noticed that some subtitles are only in sync when transcoding the video. Any one know why?

I think it is safe to say that the way Xplay is handling subtitles is not working.

No problems here, I download subtitles (SRT format) automatically with Sub-Zero Plex Channel and I can choose around 6 different subtitles (english and dutch) for most of my content. Some of them are out of sync because it’s based on a different rip, but there’s always one that works. Without transcoding.

Maybe the behaviour is different due to the version of WebOS (since XPlay just passes the information to the internal player)? What TV, model & firmware are you running?

I have a LG OLED55B6P with WebOS 3.0(can’t check the exact build from here). Firmware for the TV is 04.31.25.

I tried downloading the video and srt to my computer and played it with VLC and it worked perfectly(100% matching sub). With official Plex app on the TV it worked fine(but it is transcoding). It is only with Xplay the subs are out of sync or that I am unable to choose among the downloaded subs.

Weird, I have the same TV (although a European model), same WebOS and firmware and can literally play all my subtitles. I’ll run some tests to see if they are out of sync because of XPlay or because their for a different rip.

I just discovered the reason some subtitles can’t be chosen in Xplay! Srt-files that have multiple languages in the same file is parsed in the Xplay GUI and looks to be selectable, but Xplay only plays the first language of that file.

So the bug for one of my problems is that Xplay doesn’t handle multiple languages in one subtitle-file. @bublikoff .
Can anyone else confirm this? @FransTwisk perhaps?

XPlay handles multiple languages, but if you have multiple subtitles of the same language (for example eng, eng forced etc), Xplay plays only the last one (or was it first one?) of the language.
But if you have different languages in one mkv, then every language can be chosen.
Correct me if I wrong.

If I have different language subs in one MKV, Xplay only plays the first language.

Edit: This is what it looks like, where English (SRT English (SDH)) is the first one of the 4 MKV-embedded subs.

Just for reference, this is what it looks like in the web-player:

Aw that might be the case. I automatically download external subtitles with Sub-Zero and that seems to always work. There are indeed problems with internal subtitles.

So all xplay issues are reported & ironed out here, right?

I just unlocked the demo after successfully getting x265 direct playback, which is wonderful! Your hard work is appreciated. However, I now notice that user pins are not functioning. Incorrect or blank pins still allow access to any user. Are you working on a fix for this?

I have teenagers and as soon as they realize they have access to everything they’ll go crazy, gotta get pins working before I can give them access to the app at all.

Got myself now a new LG with WebOS 3.5. The original Plex app is not usable.
XPlay is fine and i already unlocked it.

I have the same issue with subtitles that when a file has multibe subtitltes you can select them but only the first one is displayed. I believe multibe audo tracks have the same problem. I had it at least with one file.
Also internal subtltles often force transcoding.
I hope this will be fixed soon.

I have two Plex server running and can change which one to use in XPlay.
Would be nice to have the option to see libraries from both server at the same time.

XPlay already crashed 2 times and i had to turn the TV off. I will try to see if there is a pattern if this happens more often.

Anyway, great app and hopefully Bublikoff will keep updating it.

Hello, I have noticed that XPlay does not show the correct cover when I change it on Plex Media Server, is there any way to dix this? I noticed thid with Game of Thrones show, it shous a cover that does not correspond with the one that shows in PMS.

does XPLAY offer the possibility to send a magic packet to WOL the plex server? It would be nice

It wakes up my server on my Macbook Pro just fine.

How Can I config It?

If you’re also using a Mac you can turn on “Wake for Wi-Fi network access” in the energy savings settings.

I mean how to set xplay to send the magic packet to get the server wake…

There is no setting. Worked for me from the start.

doesn’t work for me, I don’t have a mac.
I’ve seen that it’s a requested feature for the standard Plex client, so I think it isn’t implemented yet. Maybe @bublikoff could do it for his XPLAY, it would be very appreciated.

Hello.

Some more subtitle issues.

I have video with two ass subtitle files (one for forced, one for normal).
In the MKV, the forced is flagged forced. Plex server was using the automatically select feature.

On the Xplay interface, it does select the forced subtitle, but asks to transcode (why?)
If I choose the second subtitle, it doesn’t transcode anymore. And what is fun is that even though the second subtitle is the full english subbing… it does display the forced subbing instead (so names/orders are inverted).

I’m really, really confused with how Xplay handles subtitles. Everytime there’s more than one subtitle it seems to have very chaotic behavior. And I do rip my BR’s and subtitles myself so I always do it the same way, same order.

Any kind of explanation as to why this bug happens and workarounds would be greatly appreciated. This is literally the only issue I have with Xplay.

Thanks!
