Has anyone else with an OLED TV using Xplay noticed “burn in” caused by the media playback progress bar? My 12 month TV is starting to show a grey outline in the exact same spot where the playback bar is. It is only visible on a solid red/pink color, but is there and I’m worried it may get worse. @bublikoff are you able to think about changing the color of this bar from bright orange to something lighter? Bright red/orange/yellow seem to cause burn in issues with OLEDs.
EDIT: just wanted to clarify i’m not blaming @bublikoff for this. This is more of an LG problem that should’t exist in the first place.
I have no exp with OLED technology but really really odd behavior … Ive not even thought about changing color as its … lets say “company theme color”. What color do you offer? I can for example add color theming
That would be great. I would even suggest a black/white/grey theme!
Yeah, a black/white/grey option would be perfect for OLED.
PS. My tv runs its compensation cycles every 4 hours, never turned off from switch.
@bublikoff As i said later, i now suspect my Harmony had crashed. Next time this happens, i will get the original remote to verify that. Probably a coincidence between installing XPlay and a new (buggy) Firmware for my remote.
@magic_k said: @FransTwisk You’re not switchin off power on your OLED, do you? OLEDs run through “cleaning programs” when they are in stand by to prevent burn in. That’s why you should never switch them off completely.
No I don’t turn it off completely (I know about the cycles). I don’t have any burn-in either (checked it yesterday on a red screen), but I’m justing trying to prevent it. Been using the TV and XPlay for 12 months and no problems. I just know it can still happen, especially with bright yellow/orange colours. Better save then sorry.
@bublikoff I just love Xplay but I have an issue when playing 4k file from my NAS. While some play flawlessly, I’m having some issues with some of them as they pause to buffer. Is there any way to increase the buffer size or something like that? I can see this happen on the progress bar when it reaches the buffer limit. Is this TV depended?

I had the same experience with my old NAS where the files where stored and an old MacBook serving the files. I now have a DS416Play and can play everything smooth with PMS on the NAS itself. So XPlay can definitely play them, probably NAS power or network problem.
Probably can’t even adjust the buffer size since XPlay just uses the build in player.

Yeah, I thought about NAS power too, but I’m looking at the real time usage and it’s not even at 50%.
The network is not an issue as everything is Gigabit. Also tried the TV on 2.4GHz and 5GHz, same issue.

And it’s weird as some 4K files play flawlessly.
For me it wasn’t the CPU either, nor the network but it seemed the NAS was just not fast enough to read and pass it with enough speed over the network. If the 4k movie was on the NAS and my Macbook running Plex Server it would not play without buffering. When it was directly on the Macbook it would run smoothly. Maybe test read speed of your local network and NAS. The fact that it’s all Gigabit doesn’t say anything about if the NAS is able to deliver high network-speeds.
I have a problem with external subtitles in Plex Cloud. XPlay let me choose the subtitle, but the text it’s not shown in the screen. It only happen in external subtitles and in Plex Cloud, playing the same file from nas works perfect. It’s a known failure or something that only happen to me?

Thanks.
I can confirm! I experience the same thing for the last couple of months.
A workaround is to select a movie and then press the square play button on the left menu with lets you select the subtitle size and transcoding quality. Then the subtitles do show!
Also it seems that when I play movies through Plex Cloud with subtitles on, the skipping forward is really sluggish. Once I deselect the subtitles the movie plays smoothly with skipping through, any ideas why?

Anyone with old PMS version (older than 1.3)? Who can share some libs for testing
Hey, i know it sucks when people ask for updates, but im planning to buy the application and was wondering how active are you with updates? The app havent been updated on WebOS 3.5 in months and there are some UI bugs.
I use xplay instead of plex. For a TV series after the end of an episode, the next one starts automatically. Is it possible to disable this feature? I would like to do this myself manually. (fall asleep) Then one does not know what episodes one has seen. Then I would only use XPlay since there are problems with 3D MKV with Plex app.
I have an LG OLED 65B7D connected to a Sonos Playbar which only supports Dolby Digital+ 5.1.
My last hopes are to use Xplay to make the Plex Server directly stream the 4K HEVC but transcode the audio track from DTS to AC3.
If I disable direct play in Xplay’s settings, the video and audio gets transcoded to H264 in full HD and AC3 which is not desired since the video quality is reduced.
If I enable direct play the video is streamed as is which means a 4K HEVC stream with DTS which causes no sound on the Playbar since it doesn’t support DTS.
I already tried to tinker with the Plex Home Theater.xml profile but did not succeed.
On my LG 55B6 television I get for some 4k movies the error message: " the video could not be loaded, either because the server or network failed or because the format is not supported"
Anybody knows what is causing this? I don’t get this message if I’m using the Plex Media Player on my Mac.

Hello
Great app but wish there was better support for subtitles. Is there any plan on including support for bitmap style subs?
Lots of players don’t support bitmap subtitles. I believe this is also the case for LG’s build in player which XPlay uses (and thus only LG can fix this problem). I think Plex Server itself can’t even handle (most) bitmap subtitles without transcoding…
Best solution is to automatically download srt subtitles using the Sub-Zero channel in PMS. Works fine for me.
@buba013 I have another feature request: can you add a button to refresh metadata (for the selected video) in XPlay? This way you can force looking for subtitles using Sub-zero without having to grab my phone to do this through PMS
Hi FransTwisk
Thanks for suggesting Sub-zero.
I installed it through the channels on PMS running on my NAS but I either feel like I’m missing a trick or I am just being plain old dumb. I can get it to download some subtitles, having most success with movies, but I am having issues getting subs for TV shows.
For example, Game of Thrones, it downloaded an srt in English but it was out of sync.
Am I missing something? There isn’t anything obvious where I can select or force download subs? In the SZ channel there are some menus but when I select what is labelled as find or force new subs, it doesn’t appear to do anything.
I was hoping there would be a button I could press on each of the pages for each movie or tv show and select from a list of available subs.
Also, XPlay doesn’t give any way to change to sync of subtitles so unless they’re spot on by default, it’s gonna be a problem.
Could you provide any hints? Maybe let me have you SZ settings so I can try and replicate your success?
@stuppy you can add Sub-Zero to the agents of your movies and series library. It will then be triggered every time you hit “refresh metadata” in Plex (or when new items are added). You can also do this for your complete library.
Make sure your filenames have all the info like quality and release group so it’s more accurate to download the correct subtitles. Make accounts on opensubtitles and addicted so you can find more subs. Just dig through the settings and help of Sub-Zero to improve it to your likings.
