XPlay (WebOS)

@bublikoff I just love Xplay but I have an issue when playing 4k file from my NAS. While some play flawlessly, I’m having some issues with some of them as they pause to buffer. Is there any way to increase the buffer size or something like that? I can see this happen on the progress bar when it reaches the buffer limit. Is this TV depended?

Actually I cant control it as it just a system embedded video player with limited functionality that I can control from my web based app.
And as I can understand from tests its amount depends from TV model (TV platform) … some ppl say that they can play heavy media rips but blaming me that app cant handle heavy rips. I can only play with buffering timeout before start playback

Next release will fix the need of transcoding when selecting audio tracks?
nope … webOS 1.x and webOS 2.x still will not have such functionality as such functionality limited by OS
Only webOS was extended by LG to select audio tracks without transcoding

And the problem with subtitles not shown in Plex Cloud?
Will check … just have not tested well Plex Cloud functionality.

Was busy last 1-2 weeks with major update.
Ive finally finished media navigation UI … arrow key navigation algorithm was redone … and etc
But there is one sad thing … While developing app I use Chromium (web borwser) and webOS emulator.
It works well in Chromium and emulator. Today Ive done tests on real TV and it crashed because of memory consumption.
It seams that it will take about 1-2 weeks to rewrite source code to reduce memory consumption

Ah that’s a bummer. Keep at it, looking forward to the new update!

Uh, that´s actually bad news… even today Xplay crashes occasionally on my WebOS 1.4 TV because of memory shortage. I hope this will not get worse with new UI … IMHO stability and performance are much more important than fancy looks …

I would (also) suggest @bublikoff should add V2 in the LG Appstore under a different name, so the current XPlay (V1) can stay in the store and can always be used on slower/older TV’s.

It’s hard to develop something for everyone: lot’s of people want new features, and others want less so it’ll use less memory… Can’t do both in 1 App.

This, definitely. It would be great to be certain to have something to fall back to if the new version starts causing problems for people - hopefully it wouldn’t mean having to pay again for the ‘new’ version but I think I could swallow that if it was the only option.

It is great to see that you’re still developing the app bublikoff. Thanks.

Hi,

So I just tried Xplay because for the life of me I couldn’t get 4K mkv’s to directplay on the official Plex app on my LG TV. Xplay did just that, the video plays just fine, with HDR to boot, but since my MKV’s have TrueHD (Dolby Atmos) and only that audio, I don’t have any sound. Is there a way to get Xplay (or Plex) to only transcode the audio to something my LG TV can play?

I’ll pay for a v2 to support your work.

But it’s a good idea to keep the v1 on the store.

When I click on “фильмы” I see follow message: "Упс. Что-то пошло не так. Попробуйте повторить попытку чуть позже. (parsererror/200). What am I doing wrong?

About 2 days finding some links for download this subj. can’t found.
As people are doing topic so they “doing” and the same app, as I thinking.

XPlay is software for WebOS. So it will be downloaded only from LG content store

Just today tested new version that was rewriten (was already trasferd about 50% of source code to use different library-framework ) and seasms UI works a bit faster and a bit smoother and at least does not crash on Dashboard screen lol))))

Yes … it will ba availibe as separate version but activation status will work for both versions

@bublikoff will you be supporting LiveTV / DVR ?

Activation status will be shaed with any new version for this platform … other platforms will require new activation. For the moment my friend is tryng to port new version to a different platform. Propobly 1-2 new platforms will be coverd by XPlay. But as it takes too much time to polish all even small things it will take some time.

Unfortunatly the app can not controll such things like media codes support or audio output channels and etc. All those things done by webOS. I even was abele allow choose audio stream only in webOS 3 as webOS 1 and 2 does not have such functinality at all

It means that it can not handle PMS reponse … the only way to understand what is going on is to share thiis lib with my account to see the problem in raw

There is only old version can be downloaded and used with PMS version up to 1.2.x
The latest version only availible from LG apps store but it can be unavailible for some TV models becouse was not approved bt LG QA teams.
You can try to contact LG support or tell me tour model and I’ll try to ask them

At least at the beggining it will be availible with basic functionality.
At least i think to have 2 stages …

  1. Publish version with basic functionality which have some improvments
  2. Publish version with extended functionality that can be implemented on webOS platform. As for eg webOS does not support multicast streams only unicast streams … and etc etc

Bublikoff,

Thanks for all the hard work you’re putting in keeping XPlay up to date. I can’t wait to check out the new version!

I wanted to see if a couple of options are possible.

For Media Seek Interval, is it possible to allow any number to be input? Also, is it possible to have different values for clicking forward vs. clicking back? Ideally, I’d love to be able to click forward 28 seconds and back 7 seconds.

Also, is it possible to show Codec Info like you can in Plex Home Theater:

https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/202512856-How-can-I-see-details-about-audio-video-playback-

Maybe this could be assigned to one of the color buttons or to an icon in the playback interface?

Thanks!
