XPlay (WebOS)

I understood. Me need to buy an old atv 2.0 (about 5$) and air video for iphone (about 10$). A more predictable variant, than “write mails” to xplay’ developer.
Having all functions that can ios player so as nplayer (can works with smb, nfs, afp etc), air video player etc.
Not for advertising, but just made the conclusion for myself.

On what is this post a response to? AppleTV 2 doesn’t support 1080p, let alone 4K & HDR. No-go for most of us. Also not really relevant to share here. XPLay works fine for me, so why should I switch to something that can’t display half of my video-content?

Glad to see that you feel a glad. Just that subj not available (a download link of demo app etc). Had watch a first post - link to itself, link to a demo site, that I so and not understood nothing, because the author/developer of that app doesn’t answer mail. Had Asked some questions and not answer, “not regards”. About 3 days.
The atv 2.0 is better in that situation, than app of 15’th year when I don’t know where I can download latest v. How to write mail, that author to answer.
On the net I found only that http://webos-forums.ru/go.php?https://xplay.itkey.ru/downloads/XPlay-1.1.6-20160615.zip link.
Who install a more new version, he don’t speak, where they download it. On offsite - 0. On that topic - 0 info about it also.
Subj for “dedicated users”.
And with atv’s variant I just take and be bought that subj. It’s not a pig an poke.
If I run that app, I only watch an empty window. I was logged on plex in that app. anyway.
If I just go to the plexhost:32400/web computer’ with web browser, so all’re ok. I watch all libraries there.
plexmediaserver-1.8.4.4249-amd64 on the freenas 9.x.
And I don’t know how I can have contact with author, that I want get back my money. On mails he wasn’t answering.

@veranyon You can find XPlay in the LG WebOS app store. If it’s not there LG either didn’t release it in your country (and you can complain to them) or its not compatible with your TV.

very good. because I’ll not see my money, that I paid to author.

Would it be possible to add subtitle offset feature to xplay like the Plex app has?

Hi guys,

I’m new here, so sorry if I’m posting repeated questions…

I’ve a LG 910v with webOS 2.0, I setted up a raspberry pi 3 as plex server and I’m using the xplay app as client (the Plex app was always transcoding which lead to so many breaks on the movies/shows that was impossible to use it). All is connected via ethernet cable.

Everything looks working great except that, specially on TV-Shows, the screen is not properly adjusts and it crops the top and botton of the show. I think this should be due to some aspect-ratio conversion issue.

Is this a know issue? Is there a fix or workaround? Or I’m missing something on my TV or plex server configuration?

Thanks in advance…

@bublikoff
Hi bublikoff, shouldn’t the app revert to the offline version when no internet connection is detected?
After a while with the spinning wheel, I’m just getting error messages and no chance to change something in the settings,
Thank you.

XPlay itself doesn’t require internet access, it’ll fallback to the offline version when needed. However, to login to Plex you most likely do need access. See https://www.howtogeek.com/303282/how-to-use-plex-media-server-without-internet-access/

Thank you for your answer @FransTwisk but i had the steps from your link already covered in order to work with PlayZ.
I was logged in Xplay and everything was working perfectly, I then tried to disconnect the internet (not the local network) and restarted Xplay. After this i got the behavior i described.

Anyone else with this issue?

Just purchased. Thanks for your work - 4k HDR works beautifully!
Even outputs the 5.1 sound!

@bublikoff first of all, thank you! I’ve been using the app and it’s great! Not so fancy has the official one, but I can play everything without any transcoding!

Just the small issue I mentioned above…It’s not on all TV shows, didn’t figured it out which have the issues and which don’t.

By the way…I purchased the app

is there a way to use playlists with xplay? would be great!

is there any way to output 7.1
5.1 works a treat but nothing I do will send a full signal out.
The native Netflix app and atmos app out put dd+ at 7.1 without a problem

Uh, that´s actually bad news… even today Xplay crashes occasionally on my WebOS 1.4 TV because of memory shortage. I hope this will not get worse with new UI … IMHO stability and performance are much more important than fancy looks …

Just today tested new version that was rewriten (was already trasferd about 50% of source code to use different library-framework ) and seasms UI works a bit faster and a bit smoother and at least does not crash on Dashboard screen lol))))

I would (also) suggest @bublikoff should add V2 in the LG Appstore under a different name, so the current XPlay (V1) can stay in the store and can always be used on slower/older TV’s.

Yes … it will ba availibe as separate version but activation status will work for both versions

It’s hard to develop something for everyone: lot’s of people want new features, and others want less so it’ll use less memory… Can’t do both in 1 App.

Any news on the newer version? Do you need testers? OLED65C7P here

Does xplay with the latest PMS?

If you mean it works: yes.

Just curious if True HD 7.1 is supported yet? Having issues getting any sound out with it.

I don’t think the actual HDMI ARC implementation supports it. Depending on your model it might be a hardware limitation.
