I have an oled55b7v connected with optical to my receiver. Is xplay purely for direct play or can it request transcoding audio??
Optical will not pass 7.1. HDMI ARC might on your model. XPlay can work together with Plex server for transcoding but not sure how to force audio.
Ok I just double checked something and True HD 7.1 is working on a different title⦠This is a very strange one⦠Also if I use the plex app it will play the audio⦠But I can not direct play the video so itās transcoding and forcing lower quality.
Hello,
Iāve searched high and low for the Xplay app on the LG Content Store, maybe its not available in my region, Malaysia ?
Is there any alternative way to download and install it to my LG SJ8500 Tv ?
Thanks.

Yes still works.
On the lg store of my new tv lg with webos 3.5 I can not find the xplay application: is not it still unavailable?
edit: Tipped, I did a factory reset and found it
Iām confused a bit here. I was made to understand that XPlay will allow me to direct play my 4K MVK files. But when I start the application and try and play 4K movie, I am seeing a message that the plex server will have to transcode the media. Am I missing something? Do I need to get the unlocked version?

It can play 4k mkv just fine without transcoding, but it also depends on the codec, audio stream and subtitles you are using.
Just tried on my LG 2017 TV, I can load plex and choose a user, but then I just get a spinning wheel. Is this because Iām running the plex server on secure connections (the TV is on a remote network to the server).
Is it normal that XPlay has to transcode a second language for movies/tv shows? My first language is german but I also like to watch stuff in english. XPlay tells me that I have to transcode when I choose the second language and after clicking it it says that it can not be played. Why?
The official Plex app can play the second language without problems but there is the problem with the buggy direct play thing.
Yes, Bublikoff said that on older WebOS versions, the second audio stream always needs to be transcoded. Nothing yu can do about it. What I find strange though is that on some movies, transcoding the second audio stream (english) works fine even on my raspberry pi3 Plex server, while others will lag and buffer making the movie unwatchableā¦

You can add the IP of the client to the server and whitelist it so it doesnāt need secure connection. You need to set security to āpreferredā.

That was I was wondering tooā¦on some movies it works. The official plex app can handle the second Audio stream without Problem.
I have to find a solution for direct Play to TV, second language and subtitles. Any suggestions?^^
On my WebOS 3.5 TV all languages work without transcoding. Subtitles work, as long as they are in srt format.
Edit:
If everything fails, a Fire TV (Stick) with kodi always works
And should be able to direct play without transcoding with Plex.
Are you using the Plex app, XPlay or DLNA Service?
Sometimes I Need the transcoding thats why I cant use Kodi.
I use XPlay. The Plex App works, too but it starts to transcode when subtitles are involved. Thatās the onlya difference for me between Plex and XPlay. My NAS where Plex server runs canāt handle transcoding.

Well you could remove the audio streams youāre not interested in. You should be able to do this without conversion. See video - removing an x265 audio track without conversion? - Video Production Stack Exchange for example.
