When i choose directplay in Xplay (which is default) does it do anything with the sound on a movie? It seems to me that the sound is different with direct play off. It sounds deeper and more DTS. I wonder whether Xplay downstreams or downgrades DTS or similar HQ audio in movies.
New user here. As far as I can gather from the 167 pages internal/embedded subtitles cannot be scaled due to the limitations of webOS. What is unclear to me is whether this statement is still valid.
Just got a 55C7 which is running webOS 3.5. The native LG DLNA app letās me alter the subtitle size etc. So the feature is available on webOS, however it could still be unavailable in the API or SDK available for app developers.

I didnāt purchase but tried the demo and it seemed like the registration was linked to the PlexID not the hardware, give it a try and see what happens.

thanks I confirm. I had still to try it as I didnāt get the new tv yet when I posted here. Thatās great!
Can someone tell me where to find the Plex āUSER IDā that is needed to buy the XPLAY client?
I already tried to tonnect the client to my Plex account but this did not really work. It keeps on asking for the 4 digits code over and over again. The original Plex client connected on the first try. I suppose it is because I did not yet purchase the XPLAY client?
The app works great, although a couple of my movies / series wonāt play. I took a look at them, and they are all encoded with āAVC High 10ā. My TV (LG OLEDB6) should be able to direct play this. However, it wants to encode. Since Iām running the server on a NAS with a ā ā ā ā CPU thatās not going to happen.
Two questions:
Why does it want to transcode this? My TV supports this format no problemo, right?
Why doesnāt XPlay indicate this has to be transcoded? Normally when you select a subtitle that needs transcoding it will let you know with the (T) flag. This is a useful indicator for me, because I know I canāt select that one. I donāt see any indication like this with the movies in question.

See previous post, you may be able to fix this by editing the HTML TV App profile.
After I made the change I was able to DirectPlay 4K HDR HEVC MKV files that the previous default setting had forced transcoding, thus losing the HDR, I am not sure if the linked template covers your specific situation but you can give it a shot and if not maybe do some detective work and figure out another tweak.
Ideally a future version of the PlexMediaServer has the defaults set to properly reflect the correct requirements for the player being used. One of the problems may be a generic profile that covers a wide variety of Televisions and the LG may have additional capabilities. There may also be an opportunity for that player to report back to the PlexMediaServer in a future update of it.

I wouldnāt know where to find that file on the NAS filesystem (DSM OS), but Iāll have a look later. Thanks for the suggestion.

Btw is there any way to launch a movie directly from my smartphone (Plex app?) on my LG TV (on Xplay) instead of using my LG remote ?
Ive planed this feature but for the mement can tell u when it will be. And it will propobly posible only on webOS 3.x at least there is exists posible tech ability
@reddwarfcrew said:
Iāve got it set to āpreferredā and added the IP address of the remote network to both āLAN Networksā and āList of IP addresses and networks that are allowed without authā in the NETWORK section of the server.
Still no joy, any ideas?
Secured connection will reduce playback perfomance
Have you tried last update? Ive fixed small bug with plex account.
Anyway try to remove XPlay client from Plex devices list and restart the app and check if it helped you

LG OLED TV 55C7V Firmware 03.60.15:
Issue: When I play a video in Direct Play and with subtitle, Xplay always plays the first subtitle available instead of the selected subtitle. E.g.: I wish to play French subtitle but it plays always English subtitle (the first one in the list).
Same video plays with embedded LG player works.
Thanks.
Subtitles support is quite complicated topic ⦠I even had problems with the LG team about it)))
Anyway Ive improved some aspects of selecting and working with subtitles and audio tracks in new version. For the moment Im testing new algorithm on new version and will backprort changes to current version but a fit later

Does anyone else get a 500 error at the end of a show/movie? Itās like it cannot find the server but as soon as I restart the app it finds it.
It needs a bit more information about your Network and Plex setup. For eg sometimes I see that my PMS are down in official web client ⦠and even more official android cline on some android devices finds PMS only after about 5 or 10 seconds
