I have a large collection of movies with over 3500 titles and I find advanced filters in XPlay are so unresponsive they are unusable. Each time you perform an action such as press the down arrow it is several seconds (at least more than 5) before the action occurs.
Secondly is it possible to allow string searches entered via soft keyboard on actor/director etc. filters rather than selecting from a list. You can imagine that scrolling to the R’s etc. on a collection my size will be impossible.
I’ll think how I can improve filters
PS
Have you thought about splitting content?) And have less items in library)
Segmenting the collection takes away the advantages of having a relational database like Plex manage it where you have the flexibility of showing all movies with a specific actor or of a specific genre etc. I do run two libraries but only for 4k and non 4k titles.
The standard Plex client doesn’t have this issue so I assume it is related to the way you are caching the library as I also noticed it can take up to 10 seconds to display it when selected. For now I have been using the standard Plex client for this library and your client (which I much prefer) for TV and 4k content.

New version will open big libs much faster …
What about filters … It probably also needs some improvements .
By the way … have you already tried devel version? with your huge libs?
One important notice about embedded subs …
Of the moment its not possible to show embedded sub tracks other than the first one from subs list.
It seams that (or better to say highly likely) LG has changed on its side (maybe some app props or my devel account props in LG apps store) and as I can understand now the functionality that used to be available to show embedded subs does not function well. For the moment the it works only as ON/OFF switch for the first embedded sub track … the rest of embedded subtitles must be transcoded in order to be displayed correctly.
I’ve send an 1:1 inquiry to LG support … but it will take several days to answer me and I suppose that this answer will not clear the situation at all and there will only some common words.
And I almost sure that selecting embedded subs used to work but for the moment it does not. Correct me if I’m wrong. Its a bit strange situation when app works works works and after some functionality just stopped working correctly … and there were no changes in subtitles functionality for many months

would be a great feature to have Number of Reviewers from IMDB along with the rating that is a very informative factor
keep up the great work
Do you see IMDB rating in your official (for eg web client) client? Just have never seen such thing or never used it in my PMS setup

I haven’t tried the devel version but am happy to give it a try and provide some fedback if you like.
Is there any chance of seeing ‘supported audio formats’ in the next version? The official Plex client lets me disable certain audio formats (causing them to be transcoded server-side), i.e. DTS. Would be really, really useful to have this in X-Play - the ‘Disable Direct Stream’ option causes it to transcode the video as well, which is less than ideal
Please make an option to automatically sign in with last user, and not prompt to select a user at start.
This functionality exists in all official Plex apps and is very usefull. Thanks !

Hey bublikoff
No I don’t see that on my PLEX client or PMS but I use IMDb rating which is in stars (don’t help much as IMDb rating is a number out of 10)
Anyway seems from ur reply that since PMS does not have this data u can’t show it
Where is this devel version of xPLAY
Can I try it ?

Could it be that - at least on WebOS 1.x TVs - PLEX/Xplay is only able to play the FIRST TWO SRT subtitle Tracks embedded into an MKV without transcoding while any additional SRT subtitle track always needs to be transcoded, just like it´s limited to the first audio track being decoded without transcoding?
XPlay can play embedded sub but as webOS is responsible for that the app only ask to show them by language code. And in case the movie have two or more subs with the same language code only one subs track can be “played” without transcoding.
Its just webOS API limit
It would be nice though if XPlay defaults to the subtitle track that does not require transcoding.
Right now, when f.e. a web-dl has 2 subtitle tracks
English
English SDH
The behavior I’m seeing on the LG side within XPLay is that the first track is set to transcode, and the second track can be direct played.
This means normal English will be set to transcoding, English SDH can play without transcoding.
On the XPlay side, you are kind off doing the opposite, which is logical in it own stand-alone way.
XPlay will default to track 1, but this means we need to alter the subtitle stream every time. This is especially annoying when automatically playing the next episode, as you have to change the subtitle choice to be able to actually play the file.
As it’s buffering before starting the player, this means going back to the episode menu, alter the subs, and restart playback.
So my quick fix would be to have XPlay default to the last track if multiple track with the same language code exist. That would help in the playback ease.

Yes it’s possible, I actually use it and asked this via twitter @bublikoff some days ago. It would be nice to see the rating in the XPLAY app
It´s a configuration setting in the library. I don´t have a (paid) Plex pass, only a free local Plex Server on a RASPI and I could easily switch the source of ratings on my movies library with this guide. Refresh your library metadata afterwards.
Problem is: while I can see the IMDB ratings now when accessing Plex over the Web interface on the RASPI, the Xplay ratings are still shown as those 5 stars ratings.
Enhancement.
In LG Plex official app it shows the time when you will finish viewing the media at end of progress bar every time it’ s shown.
Personally, I think it is a useful feature. And now that I’m trying XPlay I miss it.
Thanks.
Regards.
