This app used to be awesome until the interface change update. Ever since then my 4k HDR movies keep buffering every 2-3 minutes. I even upgraded my laptop HDD to a SSD thinking that maybe it cant keep up anymore. Same thing, buffering. It used to work perfect before that update. Plex works beautifully but I cant change subtitle color, and white subtitles are too bright with HDR. That’s why I was so happy when i discovered xplay and saw that u can change subs color to gray(or even dark gray at one point). But not anymore 
Does Xplay work with SSL ?
I give up and I’m not happy

When viewing a TV series and I try to scroll right to see all the seasons… I cannot select anything past season 8.
When veiwing a season of a TV show and you see the episode list, I cannot scroll down. So if the episode list shows the first 15 episodes, I cannot select episode 16 or anything after it.
Can you please prioritize that over this new casting feature you are tweeting about? I cannot use the app because basic functionality isn’t working

Hate to say it, but xplay is now worse than the offical app. @bublikoff sorry dude, but i can’t believe how you can literally ignore your paying customers. I understand it’s your app/etc, but this is pretty ■■■■. You’re focusing on some casting function for xplay… can you show where this feature request was submitted? As stated numerous times above, basic functionality is broken.
You blame LG every time something goes wrong, or a broken update. You only post updates on your twitter, even though your main customer base is here.
The functionality and ease of use is gone… completely gone. There is no reason to use this app. The LG Plex app plays 4K HDR without transcoding/direct stream, it can show season past 8, it can play random episodes in a season, and it can login with a pin… all pretty simple stuff that used to work with xplay.
I, personally, would love to return to xplay, but until you start to read the feedback and action it, i’m out… and by this thread, so are many others
I can not answer to all off users. Especially if each one ask the same thing again and again. I would spend this time to improve the app. For eg I spend full time past 3-4 days to implement remote control from official plex clients … web or mobile. And it now can be controlled from Android and Web clients … but for eg clients from iPhone does not work well … why? Ive no idea … not all aspects of interacting with Plex API or PMS is described and Ive to debug how official clients to understand how it works and it may take quite much time.
But I also need free time to have a rest and free my mind as from programming the mind becomes blurred and sometimes I miss something important or make typo
Not all things depends from me. Just recently I had to ask for comments about playback start on some devices. The video player (actually its embedded webOS video player) just not even request media content. Users may blame on the the app but what I can do on my side? I have discovered that quite similar issue is exist in chromium browser (webOS UI uses chromium) …
Or for eg the app could works well in webOS emulator and totally behave differ way on real webOS TV … I dont have ability to buy all webOS models to test. And I would even say that LG QA Team may pass the app with problem code, for eg current issue with tv show series screen on webOS <= 2.x. I had a typo and LG QA did not test it well …
Or buffering problems … how can I fix the problem as I dont even have info about it in the app … embedded system video player do play video as it can and in some cases even do not notify about any playback issues. Just tell nothing to the app and the app thinks that all is OK
It also takes quite long time to publish fixes to Apps Store … no one in LG will mind if an update is urgent on not. And approving process may takes weeeeks. For the moment I do try to use own method to publish update but for some aspects its not a permanent variant. And after the app restarts it looses this update and re-check for actual update online. But it has only 5 seconds to get it. And TV not always can get this update and it will use version from local memory. Actually this delivery channel was created and used for testing and have ability for debugging on users’ side. As many many days ago LG have closed ability to create portable version of apps. It was good methods for testing apps from USB drive. Of course create fully online app … it will start the app from online and I’ll able to fix problems in seconds. But it will also clse ability to run app while TV is offline.
Ive to balance between all aspects of interacting with LG Corp, users … problems that I can not identify because I could not debug the app on users’ side with full aspects … or I can not do anything with problems on system level. I can not add media codec’s or media format support because the app uses system video player and developers can not do anything with it. But ppl are asking and asking asking again and again about DTS or why the dont hear audio from sound bar … all those things are on system level. Sometime ppl are even asking question that was dissuaded few pages ago … and etc and etc
For the moment Im a bit more active in Twitter … just quick notification about current status.
The biggest problem for me is that these updates were published with huge regressions over the version that was working well. Since then, very little has happened in terms of addressing the regressions, and I have no way to roll back to the previous version of the app (which worked fantastically).
At this point, i just can’t use XPlay anymore. A mild smattering of complaints (though not exhaustive):
All of these changes seem to have been pushed without checking with people if this was even what was wanted. And now it’s been literally months of brokenness without any clear indication that anything is going to change.
I echo the sentiment that i’m surprised that you’re working on new functionality while so much of the core experience has regressed significantly. As an app developer myself, i find this strange as my top goal after any release is addressing problems that may have arisen that i wasn’t aware of. In no way do i expect you to be perfect. I’ve certainly shipped my share of issues over the years. But, especially for products that are paid for, i will then focus all my efforts on addressing those problems before moving onto other things.
On top of all this, I really can’t identify anything about the new update that i actually find to be an improvement. It seems to have basically slid backwards in so many ways, all for no discernible reason.
I really wish this update had never happened. Or, that it was possible to get the previous version of the app. This app could then be published later on once the stability and quality were at a sufficient enough level.
While i appreciate the response, you haven’t addressed any of the issues I, or other people have been raising for weeks.

You have an active community willing to take the time to create posts on this forum. I’m sure people can take the time to post in more suitable place, such as a code repo for this new version of Plex
If this app was free, i wouldn’t personally care so much, and it’s not like it was a heap of cash either… but we all paid to use this and it seems the customer isn’t driving the development. We all paid for a service that no longer does what it sells
I’ve been checking in here every once in awhile hoping to see news that all the major bugs have been fixed, but it looks like we’re still not there. Thankfully, I never upgraded, but it’s PIA having to click that Cancel upgrade button every time I launch Xplay (LG should really allow us to override that).
I’m also surprised to hear about new features are being trialed when there are outstanding issues after this switch. @bublikoff, the majority of frustration in this thread is due to the app taking steps backwards and these issues not being fixed while you’ve been working on remote control functionality. Just from perusing the above I see issue like sorting, tv seasons being cutoff, episodes being cutoff. Those and others are huge bugs that should be addressed before anything new is added, regardless of how cool it is.
Hi there, could you please detail a little bit “The LG Plex app plays 4K HDR without transcoding”. What is your current setup, Plex server, WebOS and LG Plex app versions?
I am on WebOS2.0 and 4k (HDR or SDR) without transcoding never worked with the official Plex app. This is why I chose XPLAY due to it’s ability to direct play without transcoding 4k content.

Everything that has been answered seems perfect to me, as long as you can enter the application. In my case I paid for an application that does not allow me to access the home screen since I have the PIN problem, it always tells me to put the 4 digit pin.
Mr. Bublikoff I demand a solution, I have paid for an application that I can not use.

I’m checking this thread once in a while to see if something is resolved. And just see people complaining about broken fonctionality. Again and again.
I’m can’t blame them, this app is broken since that infamous update.
On my setup It plays well, no pin loop problem, no lag with external sub etc
But the UI is awful, not practical at all.
A few days ago the “unwatched” filter was back but i had to apply it everytime i was starting the app. Nonsense.
At this time i had version v2.713.305 till yesterday. And today rolled back itself to v2.713.102
I just don’t get it …
Why is so difficult to roll back to previous UI who was really great and work on remote update on the side ?
We are all waiting for this to happen.

I also find some mistakes bad and have paid for the application. But sometimes, we paid less than I spend every day on cigarettes. Which of you would expose yourself to the stress for the few cent.
Hey Guys, i have tested at the End of december and the beginning of january a few things with @bublikoff. And he is really working on the known problems of the app. He could figure out the descibed problems especially with the PIN loop.
As far as i know is a new Version @ LGs testing pipeline.
So please, still wait some time, till the new Version will be available to erveryone.
And always remember you just pay a few euros for something you use everyday. other developers want to have much more for less the features and possibilitys you get here…
And no, I’m not a friend of him or anything else, just a normal user with some understanding…

I have the same problems described here with the buffering. Sometimes it plays well and sometimes not. And sometimes stops at 2-3 seconds for many time, unaplayable.
In the other hand, the WiFi is on normal channels and have 200Mbps bandwidth, so the problem it’s not there.
I have configured Xplay (and Plex too) with direct stream, no transcoding, and even that way, sometimes the computer starts to do the task of transcoding.
Last, this is the worst, some files shows correctly in description as H265 HDR 4K, but starts the streaming and the TV dosn’t switch to HDR mode. If i take the file, and duplicate it on another directory, problem solved. Nonsense.
I have also a Nvidia Shield. If i try to play the same file on the same network on Kodi or Plex on Nvidia Shield, everything works perfectly.
So… what’s going on with LG and WebOS?
Yeah I have the same problem. Starts during normal use, not when paused. LGC8 here.
