XPlay (WebOS)

I am on XPlay version v2.714.091 on an OLED55E7N with software version 05.80.15 and Plex Server version 1.15.3.858 on a Mac Mini and I am not experiencing 4k or other playback problems.

I am also on version v2.714.091 on a B6V and most stuff like 4k works fine except the resume function does not work anymore

When we say that version 2.714.091 works very well (except the function resume) … but so, there is one who does not give a f***…

Playing 4K media on LG OLED65W8PLA with Plex and not Xplay… Works like a charm with HDR x265 HVEC .

Just need to use Dolby 5.1 instead of 7.1. Else no issues .

Wondering how the update system works. Why do some ppl are on one version and other ppl on another? I have auto update enabled and never had 2.715.521.

Because I asked him (as well as other people) to update my user to some beta version. He updated my user with version (I’m pretty sure different than 2.715.521) that worked normally - 4K retrieving, resume function, trailers… I was really happy, but after 2-3 days I’ve got 2.715.521… and yeah… you know how it is.

and now? Should I upgrade? version available in app store 2.715.530

DO NOT UPGRADE! This version has completely broken access to some of my 4K files. All I get is the message

“Aw, Snap! Something went wrong and we were unable to retrieve media details”.

Stay well clear until there is a fix.

Yes, the 4K retrieving problem is still present. Store version is 2.715.530. In-app About menu shows 2.715.532. Even updated to the latest firmware for my B8 today… still the same.

Update broke XPlay… again. Never ending loop when loading movie, some 4k movies sends message aw snap, something went wrong.

But it’s LG’s fault !!!

Ive pushed own update to fix this problem. Just make sure you have forced the app to restart.
At least user who have reported about it to email told that thix fix works well for him.

The Pin Loop and not going further then available servers can be fixed by disabling secure connection to plex server and restarting xplay

So much fighting with LG and @bublikoff sends me an update with big problems.

I’m seriously considering dropping XPlay by hand and just using the official Plex App.

Ppl like you are not intend to have constructive conversations. And only read in my messages what you want to see. If you want to see only bad things you will see only them. But I did not told that LG is gulty in all problems. But the main problems are becouse of LG.
For eg new isseue with “4K” media details screen is becosue of me … in case that video source has SDR or HDR in its titlle it may lead to this problem. This porblem apeared only after Ive added media version selection functionality. Im just a human and I can forget something or make a typo in sorces. But Ive tested new functionality with media contents I have and evrithing used to work well in my PMS setup … but I mostly dont use 4k content. And I can not even imagin what variants of PMS setup could exist all over the world. Anyway Ive already published an update to fix this problem. Just force the app to restart. At least one user who cought this issue already tested this fix and evrithig is OK for him.
What about playback problems … hmm … Ive no informatin that LG has fixed this probelm. And I DO still insit that this problem can be fixed only on webOS level.

Im not going to answer such aggressive and not constructive messages.

As I remember I’ve have tested online version which is exaclty the same to version from apps store now. Despite to some tech aspects it uses the same algorithme to work with servers … and what? Any ideas what could goes wrong? I did not change algorithm how the app handles servers information which it got from Plex API … for about 2 month …
At least now Ive modified own update algorithm which shoud works like a permanent update. Just need more details about this issue and I will able to fix this issue.

Now I have 2.715.601… and 4K media is working, resume is working. Thank you! I hope not to have any more issues.
