Yahoo Movies Metadata Agent

This is a Metadata Agent for Yahoo Movies. It can be used as a single primary metadata agent, or work as a secondary agent for Freebase. This Agent collects English data: title, year, summary, content rating (MPAA), duration, genres1, originally available, studio, country, rating, director, cast and poster(s).

  • FIX: The agent will now grab all paragraphs from the summary text (instead of only the first one).

Update 6 Feb, 2013

  • FIX: Try 'In Theaters' year before year from the title. Fallback to year given to us by the scanner.

Installation

  • Unzip Yahoo-Movies.zip, this gives you a file/folder with the name Yahoo-Movies.bundle
    • Mac
      • Move Yahoo-Movies.bundle to ~/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Plug-ins. The easiest way to find this folder is to use the Go to folder... option in the Go menu of the Finder.

    • Windows
      • Move Yahoo-Movies.bundle to the Plug-ins folder: right-click the Plex Media Server icon in the system tray and open the Plug-ins folder

    • Linux (Ubuntu)
      • Move Yahoo-Movies.bundle to /var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Plug-ins
      • cd "/var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Plug-ins"
      • sudo chown -R plex:plex Yahoo-Movies.bundle
  • Restart Plex Media Server
    On Mac and Windows: just quit and start again
    On Linux (Ubuntu): sudo service plexmediaserver restart
  • Open Plex/Web (sometimes still named "Media Manager") and go to Settings. Go to Agents and select Movies. You can use Yahoo Movies as a primary agent...

1 Genres are limited to: Action, Adventure, Animated, Comedy, Crime, Drama, Family, Fantasy, Foreign, Horror, Musical, Romance, Sci-Fi, Thriller, War

No, unfortunately it’s completely broken. Yahoo no longer publishes descriptions about movies, just trailers :frowning:
