  • Updated: Updated Hungarian translation thanks to AcCEsS.
  • Fixed: Many internal changes for always more stability and better future.

I’ve been checking out my new iPhone X this week and just noticed that tunes are playing gapless within Plex. I was surprised. Has there been an announcement that I’ve missed? I can finally play Abbey Road without gaps, finally!

PS, as far as I know, all my systems are on the latest version of software/OS.

Plex resides on an Nvidia Shield TV. Source media (FLAC) is on a WD NAS which was created using MediaMonkey.

If I hadn’t put the above in with my iPhone, I’d probably would have put this in a more relevent location. If they have moderators here, it can be moved to a better place.

Starting new beta of next version of Yatse that adds support for Plex transcoding.

If you use / need this feature please register for beta (Just click beta inside Google Play Store) and report issues and missing things that you’d like to see.

Just started using Yatse for control of my Plex server.

I´m quite impressed by the quality of voice recognition. Just a shame that an integration with Google Home is not possible (or is it?). Anyway - I might test one of the manuals for using Yatse with Join and tasker.

Only disappointed that a folder view of my media (movies and music) does not seem to be possible. I´m not the missionary type, but the notion that you can rely on one list of all your media (sorted by artist, year etc.) is not reasonable. Firstly, there are always media that are insufficiently described to be foundt easily in such a list - which will get too long for many users anyway. And my Haendel opera just above a Hanson album (which I do not own) - sorry, that´s just inadaquate.

So - really no folder view for my media (is this limited to using Yatse with Plex?).

Another question: Can you set / change the audio output via Chromecast (or Google Home, in this case) with voice commands? If not, could that be implemented?

AFAIK there’s no folder view possible in Plex. No such things in Web Interface and Plex official apps, so I doubt there’s an hidden API somewhere for that.

You can use smart filters in Yatse to create list and browse your content on many many criteria https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sXDt9RW7bog

Google Home is quite limited in my country and recent I never really took time to see if there’s no proper API to integrate apps with it without a server part.

For the last question I’m sorry but I have no idea what you are talking about.

Just about being able to TELL yatse on which chromecast - or Google Home - it should play a song.

If I may - another question: I just tried to setup my Google Home devices with autovoice / tasker to play music from yatse. Like described here: https://hotstickybun.com/tutorials/control-kodi-by-voice-with-tasker-and-yatse/.

Unfortunatley, it´s not working. Only when I just say the catchphrase for yatse - I chose “media”, because yatse does not seem to be recognized well -, I can see that the app is being lauched (step 11 of the manual). Adding the commands for the actual playing - like “play the album death by chocolate” - causes nothing at all to happen.

Could you imagine why?

Voices control is made by some custom magic, it’s quite powerful for it’s limited use but can’t handle very complicated things and mixed content type like song name and target name.

I should probably switch to Google AI thing but it support less languages and requires to do everything again from scratch and doing language you don’t speak is complicated

For issues: https://yatse.tv/redmine/projects/yatse/knowledgebase/articles/20 as always

I´ll be happy to report issues if I find them. But the not working voice search via Google Home does not seem to be an issue then, if I understand you correctly.

A workaround would be for me to be able to initiate the Yatse voice search by a tasker intent like this (here for the Google assistant):

Send Intent
Action: android.intent.action.VOICE_COMMAND
Cat: Default
Package: com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox
Target: Activity

Sorry to ask again and please excuse my not existing android technical skills, but if I get you right, something like this is not possible then?

The shame is that I can even select Yatse as default assistant service on my smartphone. So a long press on the home button will indeed initiate a Voice search of your app. But several attempts to simulate that by Tasker failed - the Assistant voice search would be launched instead of yours.

With org.leetzone.android.yatsewidget.ACTION_APP_VOICECOMMAND_PARSER (Unlocker only)

Can parse any voice already translated to String.

To start voice command the simple url: yatse://command/voicecommand/start does that or org.leetzone.android.yatsewidget.ACTION_APP_VOICECOMMAND_START

All explained in that page  For how to correctly integrate in Tasker, tasker forums are best as I do not use it

Thanks for all of the advice.

Still not working with tasker.

I use your wear app now for voice commands. I really like it.

Also, installed Kodi now and use the “files” item in the menu. Just what I had longed for…

Is there any way to select which subtitles I want to play with my movie? So far I saw it picks the random one (usually not the one I want).

You need to select the subtitles in the player you use. Yatse does forward all subs to MxPlayer and VLC.

So then in those you just select the one you want.

If Plex transcode and burns subs then I’ll need logs to see why.

Seems I can’t delete duplicate

Tolriq, thanks for the answer. Actually I am streaming to my old LG TV using UPnP and it seems like the player sees only the subtitles embedded in mkv file, despite the fact that there are subtitles with 2 more languages in the folder.

Yes not many UPnP devices support external subs :frowning:

For the moment Yatse does not allow selection of streams for transcoding as it does not correspond to anything on Kodi side and well Plex user base is very very small for the moment.

As far as I streamed some things before, LG handles UPnP subtitles pretty well. I think it would be nice to preselect subtitles in Yatse before starting the stream.

Hello together, I tried to login to my plex server in local network but always get an error.

I tried with email-Adress, or username and my normal password.

Which credentials do I have to enter?

Best regards,
Stefan

Normally any user account that have access.

What error do you have? Maybe you have configured your Plex server to support only secure connexion.
For the moment the wizard does not support that you need to set back normal option. Add your host then you can edit the host to activate https mode.

A future release will make this easier.
