This one has me a bit confused, for several reasons. I added a missing year to a TV series, and out of curiosity, checked one of my movies libraries. I noticed that some of the titles, when I sort by year, just fall to the bottom, and don’t show a year. On inspection, though, the information is present for those entries. Some items do show years, others do not. See pictures below. This only happens on the one library.
I’ve tried updating the plex server version, updating the desktop software, using my phone client, refreshing metadata, switching agents around, changing the scanner for a 3rd party option. If there was information missing, I’d worry about the agent or scanner a bit more, but in this case, the “originally available” field [the only date field available when you edit a movie entry] is populated, and correct. For some reason, plex is just not showing it for some entries in this library.
To add to this, I took the time to dive the database and have a peek at a known misbehaving entry:
select
id,
library_section_id,
media_item_count,
title,
title_sort,
studio,
duration,
originally_available_at,
refreshed_at,
tags_genre,
summary
from metadata_items
where id=35017;
![]()
The title in question is visible in the first screenshot, and missing it’s year.
