Server Version#:1.41

<If providing server logs please do NOT turn on verbose logging, only debug logging should be enabled>

  • Gigabit switch (tried with or without internet same result)
  • appletv 1080p
  • cat6
  • external drive USB 3 connection to Macmini
  • 1080p video

appletv message: “Your connection to the server is not fast enough to stream this video. check you network or try a lower quality.”

what could be the problem.

update:

  • appletv plex app 8.42
  • media on internal ssd drive.

Hi, there a couple things you can try as my set up does not exhibit this issue

Firstly make sure you using a fast DNS in your Router. Example 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8. Also manually set up ATV the same rather than using Automatic. It would also not hurt updating your Mac mini DNS defaults and your TV DNS.

Secondly make sure you add to your Servers Network settings like the Following. (Router address /24) so it removes authorization requirements. Make sure to Save

Once complete Restart everything including the Router.

Cheers

With or without the router the same issue. I have eliminated the router completely. Meaning I just connect the MM & ATV on the switch the message is the same when playing the media. Even after I’ve added the removed authorization requirements.

why is plex struggling?

It’s phones home initially to the Mother ship

But if it doesn’t have a connection to the internet it seems to still work. So what other issue can it be? the network is gigabit switch. isolated gigabit MM, gigabit ATV.

Same problem. Worked for years now nothing.

Same here

I’ve isolated the issue to the appletv plex app, the update Is causing the issue. The only thing that was updated was the plex app. Nothing else TVOS was updated. Major Bug: Direct play vs Transcode Inconsistency ATV app - #22 by lacer

Experiencing same issue here.

Files play back fine on mobile, pc, mac all on the same network but won’t playback on Apple TV. Says “server not fast enough” blah blah

Have noticed switching to “old player” fixes the issue - but then there’s no audio sync adjust and because of Plex audio lag, it’s just as useless.
