At first, I was using WD EX4 and it was great for me. But to Plex, it was garbage. I understand why Plex stop making software update for that server because WD wants us to buy their PR4100 or something close t it. I got the PR4100 32TB.
Nothing will satisfy Plex.
I have very high upload/download (U/D) speed I’ll never take advantage of and processor on my server that should be more than what’s needed for the use of watching TV. But nothing is powerful enough for Plex.
Plex uses 95% of our resources to constantly check back home to make sure account is legit. Most of the upload speed is being used to verify if you’re a legit user and your server processor is being use for that purpose. You’re left with 5% of all your resources to access, process, and watching your movies. Even while watching on your own network at home, Plex message is popping up saying your connection to the server isn’t good enough. Even if you connected with wired, as long you’re logon to Plex Media Server, it is as if you’re accessing it remotely.
Nothing is powerful enough for Plex!
Then I did some homework about secure VPN. It took some good reading but I finally successfully setup my router VPN and created a user access.
I can logon remotely from any location and watch any movies on my iPhone and laptop without my server isn’t powerful enough or my connection to the server is too low.
It’s nice to have that Plex library and easily go through your movies with poster view. But I’d rather not have that and enjoy viewing my contents.
Sorry you are having issues but this does not sound normal. Plex definitely should not be using 95% of your bandwidth to check in to plex.tv. This should occur only occasionally and even then should be very quick. How are you measuring this?
Because when I use other means to access the same files I would on Plex, everything work great. Plex always say connection is too slow on my own network when I don’t really need these high speed. I download a Blu-ray movie 15GB under 10 minutes and upload at about the same or less. Just to say my Internet speed U/D isn’t the problem. I’m using PR4100 32TB and the memories were upgraded to 8GB though Plex doesn’t use much. Only Plex won’t satisfy. I feel I’m only getting 5% back when using Plex.
Plex should put some users on the GREEN LIST, especially when we have known Lifetime Plex PASS. Do not disturb thing.
Can you provide the exact error message? The error may have nothing to do with your internet.
Plex should put some users on the GREEN LIST, especially when we have known Lifetime Plex PASS. Do not disturb thing.
I don’t get this. What green list?
Regarding the “GREEN LIGHT” meaning that those people with LIFETIME PLEX PASS shouldn’t be bothered with Plex constantly checking home. I’m pretty sure it affects our experiences.

Plex does not constantly check home. The clients do so on launch or when changing servers. PMS does it on launch and every few hours.
If you think your PMS is constantly checking in, please provide your PMS logs so we can investigate because this is not expected behavior.
