I don’t think I’m alone in this problem, so my apologies if this isn’t the right place to post the question. Anyway, here it goes.
I’ve been using Plex on my Samsung PN60F5500 tv for months now. The app has generally been sluggish, but functional. Occasionally I would have to restart the tv because it froze or became unresponsive or just got too slow. I used it as recently as last night without any problems. Then I went to use it tonight, and it just loaded endlessly. I don’t think the app updated (although I have it on automatic updates, so maybe it did). My server is running version 2.4.9, which I think is the most recent (at least it says so when I click “update”). I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, but couldn’t get past the PIN screen.
Is there a problem with the app, or is there something I can do on my end to get it working again? Also, I have a PS4, so would I be better off just paying the subscription fee and running Plex off of there?
Thanks!
UPDATE:
All of a sudden it started working again. I’m thinking maybe the app hadn’t updated and it started working once it did.
I had this issue this morning on my Samsung TV PS50C7000 which resolved itself after an update, but now it lost my credentials so when i go to configure automatically usually the PIN part comes up here but it just says login failed - I cannot enter any of my details in - I have tried removed and re-adding - but to no avail,
i have the same problems, the app would not load at all , so i deleted it, then redownloaded it, problem is now i cannot sign in anymore, when trying to login to my plex account the username and email section of the app is greyed out, and you cant move up or down, all i can do is press login, which ofc says login failed because theres no username or email… its incredibily frustrating
Had the same issue and did the same as “tendedzero” and now facing the same problem that I’m not able to login-> Do not get the pin, I was once able to get the pin after several logins but didn`t solve the problem as the Webpage stated everything should work the app told the same but the subscription details remained empty. On my plex server under settings/devices an empty box appeared (normally the device is listed in that box).
In the same boat. When reinstalling the app, it asks me to register but everytime I enter the information is says my account cannot be found. When going into the app, get login failed but unable to enter int he login credentials. I was able to manually add my plex server, but I cannot see my shares and my server doesn’t know who I am when watching from my tv.

Update:
Mine is now working:
For those who want to know what I’ve done:
1.) Changed my password again on the Plex Website: https://plex.tv/users/edit
2.) Signed out from my Plex Home-Server (Settings/Server/General)
3.) Signed in again on my Plex Home-Server with my new password (Settings/Server/General)
4.) Deleted App on my Samsung TV and turned it off
5.) Reinstalled Plex-App on my Samsung TV
6.) Login in Plex App and now the pin appeared
7.) Went to https://plex.tv/pin and entered the values
I’m having the same problem as the OP, when I start plex on my Samsung I get the spinning circle and the loading text but after a while it just kicks me back to the smarthub. I wish I got as far as the rest of you that’s having problems with the pin
Tried removing it, shutting down the tv, installing it again a couple of times but none seem to help, works great on my phone, laptop and casting to chromecast so I don’t think it’s something with my account!
Plex version is 2.002 on the TV and the server is updated to the latest plexpass release.
•Download Samsung widget
•Download orcas developer app
•Delete the existing plex app from Samsung
Step1
•Reset TV setting “D” blue button on remote and reset if you do not know the password try 4 zeros
Step 2 login to TV “A” button on remote username develop password use six zeros
Step 3
Move the dev app into the widgets folder note the iP in the dev app. Make sure plex is selected inside the Samsung widget app it should have a check mark next to it.
Step 4
“D” button from Samsung remote go to development and enter server IP it’s the same as the one from the Samsung widget app. Select user application synchronization.
Exit the smart menu from Samsung TV relaunch you should see a plex app with user banner on it. When you lunch it there will be a pin option.
This was my fix I refused to do a workaround and caved in…
Plex is the most rubbish program.
Not user friendly at all, and almost impossible to get running.
Buy a chromecast for $50 and cast your library to TV is much easier.
I am sick of Plex not working and have given up on it
