RasPi B running RasPlex 1.0 Remote issue

Hello,

I am constantly having problems with the remote in the plex app for IOS. When the Pi boots up initially, I can connect from the App on my iPhone. However, after sometimes just a couple minutes, I loose connection to the Pi. Sometimes if I remove the ethernet cable and plug it back in, it shows up again. Other times, no such luck. Also, I leave the Pi on 24/7 and most of the time if I come back to it after a couple days, I do not see it in the list on the IOS app. Is there something that I am doing wrong, or some setting that I am missing?

Thanks for your time,

Neko

The latest PMS (PlexPass only at the moment) has fixes for this. I see you are not a PlexPass holder so you will have to wait for it to go on general release.

Can you say which version is supposed to fix this: 9.15 or 9.14.6? I get the problem on 9.14.6 and it makes my RasPlexes unusable :frowning:

0.9.15.0 I think (PlexPass only)

Presumably you mean unusable using that type of remote, are you running 1.0.1?

Thanks Ned. Yes 1.0.1 and I’ve tried going back to .7 … The rasplexs don’t show up in the iOS client. Been working fine since .5, only stopped when I updated server from 9.something old. Forced to update because of iOS 9 :frowning:

Can confirm that with Rasplex 1.0.1 and PMS 0.9.15.0 there is no issue, when selecting the Rasplex client in iOS I can use the remote and when playing content can use the transport controls, have used it this way for past 12 hours without any ‘disconnects’. Yesterday I had the same results with Rasplex 1.0.1 and PMS 0.9.14.6.

Have you restarted PMS recently?

Can only think that your network may be causing the issue, have you tried manually setting a PMS IP address in Rasplex Preferences?

Regards

Thanks Ned. I’ll certainly try rebooting and I do normally hardcode the IP address (not sure why) but the Pi seems to find the PMS every time without issue. If I look in :34200/clients, I never see any devices listed …

You will only see it there if you have signed in to Plex in Preferences->System->Plex->Sign in.

Looks like it may be a problem running rasplex on Pi A+… just sits at the Rasplex loading screen. I guess a lack of memory problem on the A+. Seems to works on my B+, although doesn’t appear on all iOS devices. Odd that it only seems to have started recently, can’t say 100% due to upgrading PMS to 9.14, but it used to work :frowning:

Rasplex will only run on B, B+, B2 and Zero.

There were some issues with 9.14.x, try 9.15.0 or revert to 9.12.19.

Thanks Ned … I have a couple of zeros, but need to work out how to get analog sound out!

Any issues with reverting? is it just a case of dpkg -i 9.12? Does it work with the latest iOS client?

Have a look at one of these Raspberry Pi Store | The Pi Hut

Shouldn’t be any issues with reverting using dpkg -i on Linux.
