[FEATURE REQUEST] Plex Pass repository for the Debian

I have been trying to maintain a Plex server on a small Debian box for a while now, and I find it frustrating that there is no official Plex Pass repository.

If I may share my thoughts?

Maybe a point to consider is how you’re asking and also determine how many use Debian as well as which version?

The reason there isn’t a repository is because Debian (7 or 8) isn’t officially supported. If it were, the repository would exist by default.

Debian 8.5 is quasi-supported because it works unmodified using the Ubuntu package.
Debian 7 is an entirely different ‘animal’ to the point a Ninja creates packages when he has time to. Debian 7 packages don’t follow, for whatever reason, other init-based packages.

As the person who maintains the package scripts and spends the majority of my time in the Linux forums,

If:

A. it’s not a huge effort for the net gain
B. there is enough documented need for it
C. the currently existing package binaries aren’t compatible
D. the currently existing repositories aren’t compatible
E. it could made to fit into the automatic build process

Then:

Engineering will entertain it and decide. If they decide in the positive, I’ll probably be the one tasked to do it.

Thanks @beckfield, I missed that F.R.
