Allowed to host public PlexPass debian repo

I know there have been several topics on these forums asking for a PlexPass debian package repository to ease the upgrading process for PlexPass users. I can understand that PlexPass releases are beta and that Plex.TV does not offer them publically themselves.

Would it be allowed for me to set up a public debian repository with PlexPass packages?

I am asking this in advance as I do not wish to piss off the wonderful people of Plex.TV

i would think not Beta are plexpass special

Thanks for your input @lordmage

Other topics did mention that beta release (through the PlexPass channel) are handy because if a release has issues not everyone is impacted. By offering it through a separate repo people would need to explicitely choose this path.

Of course Plex.TV can have other reasons to not wish PlexPass releases being made public. I am looking for those reasons.

The “beta” channel for Plex Pass releases is one of the premium benefits of having a Plex Pass subscription, so they should not be available in a publicly-accessible repo, sorry.

It’s possible that we might be able to offer an official (tied in to Plex Pass authentication in some way) at some point in the future, but we don’t have any specific information to share.

Completely clear and thanks for your reply, @chrisc

We’ll see what the future brings
