Hi at all,
is it worth updating from PMS 1.14 ? Does it bring more stability or speed now that it is way smaller?
Best wishes.

There are 7 versions after 1.14. You might want to look at the fixes and enhancements. One of them might interest you.
Yes. That’s the newest but I was starting from the OP’s version and moving forward to show the fixes from 1.14 to 1.15.x. There has been alot of them.
Also. Take a look at this post by @BigWheel
Upgrading to at least 1.14.1 would be most beneficial.
what I meant was:
is it really faster/lighter/smaller than the 1.14.xxx versions? that was the main goal when they started developing the new PMS last year.
No. Software seldom goes in that direction.
so sad, because that was their main goal with the new built.
That was hopefully & mostly. I think linux was slightly smaller but Windows was not(at that time I made comments about it).
it is at least more stable and has less bugs?
I would suggest staying at 1.14.1.5488 if using Linux until 1.15.x stabilizes–if you want steady state.
I am on windows, but I will follow your advice and wait a few more releases.
With Windows, that’s a different story. You get some bugs fixed in 1.15.x but you gain some bugs.
why is linux different?
That’s a complicated answer. Due to so many different underlying OS reasons–it just is. I have no issues with PMS v1.14.1.5488 running on top of Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS using a late model NUC.
so, let’s wait for 1.15 to get more stable then. will try an update in summer, I guess.
Just to chime in:
I use 1.15.x on my Synology NAS and have not noticed any issues not already present in 1.14.x, fwiw, and have actually seen some improvements. As Achilles pointed out, though, that varies by platform and use case.
Using 1.15.x (latest) on Linux on a new Ryzen 5 server, it makes my entire server crash and is currently unusable. Gonna try heading to 1.14.x and see if it makes a difference.
edit: I don’t want to cause confusion here, this issue is not related to 1.15 or anything, my entire server is just losing connectivity but keeps running, does the same on 1.14.x
This thread is about running the latest version of 1.15 on Windows. Perhaps you could start your own thread to, you know, avoid any confusing
With the latest version series buffer around 90% and subs cutting out when ff for example. At least on Samsung TV.
Very annoying.
