1.15 worth it?

That’s good. I once had a problem eons ago(like v0.9) so as a precaution I always empty trash/clean bundles then optimize database before upgrades. Works for me I guess…

Personally I have never really done anything special on Windows with major server upgrades. Kudos to Plex for that.

As for the whole 1.15 worth it question?
It’s faster…or to be more accurate nowhere near as slow.
Pretty soon it may be as fast as Emby V3.
Sad that Emby is now on V4 though.

That sounds promising. I might just upgrade this weekend… Maybe…

I would carefully read various parts of the server forum section for the many things it breaks first.
Nothing pertinent in my case from what I can tell. At least my users haven’t mentioned anything yet.
So please don’t take my “faster” comment as any kind of endorsement… and always remember the Two Week/Months/Years* rule.

Well I finally had some time to investigate further into the issues I was seeing with Plex 1.15.x versions. Turns out it wasn’t PLEX upgrade causing the problems as such.

It was dns delays on my home network, due to masqdns going odd on my firewall coupled with a window update changing my hyper-v nic teaming from hyper-v port mode to dynamic. A pair of issues which lead to increased time-outs and slow responses on dns queries. Seems like the older versions of plex were less sensitive to these delays and time-outs on the DVR guide updates. I’ve now updated to 1.15.2.793 which is OK stability wise. Now Veeam have released the new community editions of their backup products I’m going to take my own professional advice and actually backup the server VM properly before upgrading this time ; )
