1.7.1.0 - Auto sign-in doesn't work

Hi,
I’m plex subscriber, have Xbox One running 10.0.14393.1040 (current branch, no preview OS), Plex app 1.7.1.0.

For few weeks now, from time to time, the Plex app asks me for my PIN when I launch it.
Just after sign-in, I re-enable the auto sign-in option but it seems to be reset like the insecure connections mode from allow on same LAN to Never.
It seems to happen every time I reboot the Xbox or when I ask for a complete shutdown. My Xbox uses rapid wake up mode.
No, there is no other user account set on my Xbox, only mine. So no multi-user scenario applying here.
Might have side effect: my Xbox is configured to not auto sign-in my Xbox account (MSA) if i’m not in front of the Kinect. It has to check it’s really me.

Is it a known bug/feature/behavior?
Any idea how to fix it please?

I’ve not experienced the pin issue specifically, but there are definitely some quirks regarding plex’s need for the xbox user to be signed in (on the box, as well as XBL).

I would be curious if you still experience this problem if you turn on auto-sign-in on your xbox. I use auto sign-in at the xbox level as well as in plex, and I’ve never seen this issue. I have had an error if I launch the app too quickly though (before the xbox has fully signed into my account), but it’s the error screen with the ‘retry’ and ‘go home’ options. Once I’m fulling logged in on the xbox, I hit retry (or Go Home) and it works just fine for me. I’ve personally never had the pin pop back up like this.

I know you may not want to leave auto-sign for the xbox turned on, but knowing whether the behavior changes in the app would be a good place to start.

This thread would be worth reading, if you haven’t yet.

That thread seems to indicate that their issue may stem more around multi-user issues, but it also seems to deal with sign-on via kinect. So there may be some sort of connection there.

I tried what you suggested and all the 5 ways to log on the Xbox and it’s always the same, Plex asks for a PIN every time I restart the app or restart the Xbox.
Even if I’m already XBL logged, then launch Plex, enter my PIN, go to settings, enable auto log-in (in plex settings i mean), go home, browse one or two libraries then quit the app, i mean not just switch to something else like a game, but quit the app from Xbox home, when I launch it back, it asks again for a PIN.
It’s like the app doesn’t record the setting or just doesn’t read it, which would explain why I have to set it for each test (I stopped do it on regular use because it’s not working  ).

So it doesn’t seem related to XBL logon method after all but I’m not the app developper.

And so…not a feature. Any idea if a fix is on the way please?

Same issue here.

Same issue.

Any official from Plex to comment on this please?

Hi there. Sorry you’re all experiencing this issue. I have been trying to reproduce this without much success, but I will continue looking into it. Again, sorry for the inconvenience!

Is there anything i can do to help you understand the issue and fix it? Logs? Dump? Trace? Name it

@fbuono I don’t think logs will help in this instance but they don’t hurt. Make sure to enable debug logging in the app first, then force quit it and restart. Though there is a chance if the autologin setting is not being saved you then neither will the debug logging setting but give it a go. Then post your server log here.

solved with 2.x

I have the same issue with the web client (3.69.1) and smart TV app. I added subnet under auth and check auto sign in from general settings. It never stays. It used to reset after installing an update but this version does it every time, for me at least. FF 63
