I’ve seen many discussions in these forums about the problems with having Plex recognize and play iTunes playlists.
I have yet to find one that actually answers the question in a fairly straightforward way: Why is Plex not importing iTunes playlists, even when I supposedly have a plugin meant to do just that?
This plugin has the exact path to the iTunes folder on my computer, seems to know precisely where the Library is stored, but does absolutely nothing with the information.
After poking around the program for an inordinate amount of time, the option to even create a playlist on Plex has yet to present itself… At the moment, the only way I can play music is to set up a separate Library… (This involves creating an entirely new folder with copies of music files that are represented in my playlists… I don’t have to tell you what a waste of time/storage that is.)
Call me ornery, but I don’t actually WANT to spend another month or so re-creating playlists or libraries on Plex… I want to import the playlists I already have… You know, the way I was told I would be able to before I went and bought the PlexPass.
And call me a Luddite, but I don’t have five hours to pore through forums and sort through 23 different “solutions,” all involving byzantine instructions on how to edit coding in XML files.
Is it really too much to ask Plex to actually include this feature in an obvious place on their UI? Or, hey, even some simple Point-A-To-Point-Z instructions for importing iTunes playlists in their FAQ? This IS an advertised feature of PlexPass, after all.
In lieu of having actual tech support available, I put it to this forum to offer whatever guidance there might be. Much thanks in advance.
