Verry frustating, when i turn on transcoding, because my smasung tv is not able to use the codec on direct stream, it doesnt resume where i was left
lets say, i watch an movie/epside. i stop watching on minute 40 … if i resume later it starts at like 30… it even displays me that i only watched 30 min instead of 40 before i resume
this is only happening on orca, on tizen models its fine
this is only happening on transcoding option
In 2019, there was an issue, as referenced below, that I was involved in
It was fixed then, but I would be surprised, if an additional fix would be made once more for unsupported clients.
To debug, one would have to switch on debug logging on the Sammy, and then hope that something of value was logged.
Then one would have to duplicate this on an old PMS version where it worked, and compare the logs.
With all above, I can only say, and do note I happen to own a few sammies running Orca client, that it’s a lost case IMHO, since:
The client is old, and not supported (-2015 is old, when thinking of this as a computer, which is what a smart-tv is)
Some platforms using that client can’t login/claim anymore, due to the OS by Samsung hasn’t received updated to support newer protocols used by today’s std. for security
hey @dane22, can you have a quick loon my debug logs? i was able to create them
notice the timestamps
i started resuming on 27/10/2020 at 19:53 (episode was at 12:49) see picture left below, i watched for like 6 minutes see pictore right, as you can see untill 19:56 , so about 6 minutes watched
i want to resume, see picture right, but it starts resuming on 14:11 , thats like 1m20 sec instead fof like 6
You switched on verbose loggings… Don’t
You didn’t switch on logging on the Orca client, do so…
And then when said, as already said more than once!
I fail to see any business case here, since the client is dead, and TV can no longer be claimed, if unclaimed for some reason.
As such, I do not suspect that Plex would do anything regardless about this issue, since it’s an annoying thing, but not a blocker.
Heck, there’s users, my self included, that can’t use our Sammie anymore at all
All I can suggest, is that you live with your app for as long as it last, and then move on to another client.
its indeed not a blocker, but i have 2 samsung tv’s, they are from 2015 , so not that really “old”
i just like it, since i dont need to use any additional hardware … the only smart thing i use on TV is plex
anyway, that panasonic link doesnt look promising at all? and whats a sammie? ae you referring to older samsung tv"s?
also, due to the fact that @orca 's app uses GPL code, everyone has the right to get the source code, modify and redistribute it.
see here:
and here:
at first, i will solve the security issues raised by orca and maybe then work on improving the app and/or starting a real open source approach for it. Maybe even a team of developers will take on the task.
i would assume, it is solely in the posession of @orca.
as stated above, everyone can ask him to release it according to the GPL licence.
but let me first finish my work on providing a way to adress the security concerns (which are very legitimate). i think, that we (the communty) will get the source soon afterwards.
