Playback stops after pausing and resuming

I saw this problem posted early, but not solution. Playback on all of my Samsung televisions reliably experience this problem. Videos play fine, but anytime I pause and resume, it will play for a short time, then suddenly return to the video menu screen. I have to restart the video and FF to where it was when it failed.

What version of the Plex app are you using on your Samsungs?

Hi - Thanks for the quick response. They are running V2.012 installed on 8-21-18. I did try to update them, but it says I have the latest version.

Unfortunately, that app was developed by a volunteer who is no longer able to support it due to health reasons. At some point, as PMS releases continue to happen, old, unsupported apps have begun to show their age. Features like a proper resume, etc are the kinds of things that may break.

Your best option might be to get a streaming stick or box from Roku, Amazon FireTV, Apple TV, etc.

Hi Fabio - I don’t think I’ve changed anything from the defaults. I guess I use transcoding where necessary. Transcoder quality is set to Automatic and the “Disable video streaming transcoding” is NOT checked. So you have a Samsung TV and the same version of the app? Thanks.

i mean the settins on the plex client itself , on your samsung

Fabio - thanks for your patience. So I am looking at the menus on Samsung Plex, I stepped through all of them, I don’t see a transcoding option. In the “Player” menu, I see an option to “Auto adjust transcoding quality” which is unchecked. Am I missing an option somewhere?

are you sure you are on the orca app? app version 2.012 or 2.013 ? this section of forum is for older samsung series

you can define it in settings

but also before starting a movie/episode, on left side, the 4th button i believe, the movie icon, there you can change it also for that specific movie/episode

I am running 2.012 (oddly one of the tvs has 2.013, but the 2.012 indicate no updates). Yes I do see the option when playing a movie - Auto (which is what is selected), Direct Play, Direct Streaming and Transcoding. Which are you suggesting I try?

Hi - so I took your suggestion and purchased two Amazon Fire Sticks. Unfortunately Plex is worse now than before. Videos stop after playing for several minutes - gives an error message that I should restart my Plex Server and the Plex App. At least with the Samsung TV App, I know it only crashes when I pause - Fire Stick version crashes while playing.
