Server Version#: currently 1.18.6.2368 but started a few months ago
Player Version#: Plex for Samsung 1.019
Confusing title I know. I have an older Samsung Smart TV (model UN46D6000) with Plex installed. A few months ago I noticed that when I resume a video it will resume playback from about 20 minutes earlier than when it was stopped. For example, if I stop a movie at 50 minutes in, when I go back to watch it later it will resume at 30 minutes in. If I resume it on a different device it will resume from the correct spot. It’s been like this for several server versions but I’m not sure exactly when it started. I’ve tried reinstalling the app and removing/re-adding the server. I realize this is a longshot but I’m out of ideas. I know Samsung has been rumored to “update” their older models to force people to buy new TVs so that may be the case here. I don’t use any other apps on this particular TV so I wouldn’t know if anything else is broken.
Unfortunately, you ma be out of luck as I’m guessing (based on the app version number) that you have a pretty old Samsung and are using an app that was developed by a volunteer (not by Plex) who is no longer able to maintain the app.
However, the latest version available is either 2.012 or 2.013 so I’m wondering what model year your TV is?
I also created this thread below, it’s the same issue…
When an episode is complete when I watch it… If I turn back on TV next day, I see the episode still as not watched completely… Like 20 mins remaining…
I think I noticed the issues when j put the default setting on transcode… Gonna try direct play again, and see if it resolves
