2 computers to a single server/household

I apologize to begin with if this is a naive question, I looked around the forums/online and couldn’t find a post worded in the same way.

I’ve had Plex for awhile and it’s always worked with my TV and laptop but my housemate wants to be able to also use Plex without me having to be home to open my computer, add whatever he wants to watch to my library, scan for updates, etc etc…

My hope was that my Plex account could stay logged in on our TV but there could be a server for my laptop and his. I’m under the impression this is possible as there’s an option to choose a server, showing my laptop as the only option but I couldn’t figure it out… my current (and messy) solution was to share a folder of his to my computer and add that as a secondary library but that still requires my computer to scan for new content which means I’d still have to be there.

Any way someone can point me in the right direction? Thank you, and again, I’m sorry if this is a simple thing.

I would suggest reading the support pages for resolve.

Not sure if my situation applies here, but I wanted to have an account for my kids so they could watch everything they wanted to without my help. I just created a second user in my “home” and gave that user access to the library with their content in it. I also do not manually add and remove content from the server as I watch it. Everything is always there, so they just log in with their account on the player (Amazon FireStick in our case) and watch what they want.
