We have 2x macbook pros, each with Plex installed. We have these, as well as a Samsung TV with Plex installed all on the same network.
My brother and I each created our own Plex accounts and added our own computers as servers, but then realised we would have to log in each time we wanted to access a different Macbook on the Plex TV app.
We figured we could share an account (his one) log into it on all devices and add my computer as a server. Well we logged out on all devices, logged back into his account, but unfortunately when I log in via my web app on my compute it says “your brother’s macbook pro is unavailable” with no option to add my macbook as a server.
I have looked everywhere, there is no option to add an extra server or library?
Any ideas? Surely we don’t need a Plex pass to add another server?
There are 2 places where you can logout/login:
one is for the web app and the other one for the server.
You might have logged out just the web app, while your server is continuing to run under your own plex user account.
Try this:
log out the web app
Then log in again into your own (‘old’) plex account
If you now see your server available, it is as I assumed above.
Which you then can sign in to your brother’s account
Immediately after that, you will have to sign out the web browser as well and into your brother’s account.
So there was no option to sign out of the server. I checked preferences and I tried clicking on the server. I couldn’t find the same screen as you shared.
I have used the option to mutually share servers which seems to have worked well, now I can access my libraries from my brother’s computer. I’ve made different libraries for TV shows and Movies, as is incorrectly renaming episodes and I can’t be bothered renaming all the files.
