2 different movies but considered duplicate of 1 movie how you fix?

i do have seperate folders i only found these issues now when i did a all movies so does all videos in the movies folder…
but ok i try that

and i not sure how you check for metadata i do have mp4s

and i checked my documentary folder in plex and its showing duplicate

and how do you set individual plex folders to read what agent it uses… i only set it up as the default settings under Settings button top right

nvm found the edit button and advanced for the folders so i trying that now set it to movie database

I use mp3tag for this

Not folders. Libraries. If you edit your library, go to the Advanced tab, there is an Agent drop-down selector.

ya thats what i ment… i called the left hand colum folders but they be libraries… i testing now… so hopefully it all works

hopefully this works… frustrating but cool at the same time… thank you for help so far

nope didnt work i have the 2 loose changes videos in there own folder with the nfo from the imdb site i set the library to use movie database
and still chooses 2006 loose change when its really 2005 and links it as duplicated … and its doing same for other movies… i guess they not that important movies so who cares if they duplicating i guess just frustrating

The change of the default agent won’t affect items which are already in the library. You have to dance again.

i removed it plex removed it
i did the trash clean bundles scan for meta tags thing i put the folders back

plex again says loose change 2006 and links the 2 files together yet they 2005
i do FIX MATCH button and choose 2005 again and it does nothing i figured FIX MATCH supposed to tell plex that it has choosen wrong file and this is what it is

When you do Fix Match, are you clicking on ‘Search Options’?

yes then it says
all the loose changes and i click on the 2005 version and it closes and nothing

then i do it again a minute later as i figure there be a delay and i choose Plex or the movie database each one shows different searchs… so then i click the 2005 again and wait a min or 2 and still nothing still keeps forcing it to be 2006

i choose 2005 and it goes back to 2006

What happens if you split it before fixing the match?

it blanks them and just says loose change before it wasnt showing up if i split apart with other movies i did too it wouldnt find
but this is what it looks like ill re try the fix itplex2

when i click fix match and choose 2005 fir the first one
which is just the plain loose change 2005 it links it again
plex3

What happens if you remove one of the files,
perform the Fix Match with only one of the files in the library?

so i removed the second edition
so it redid its updating

i clicked fix match and choose 2005 nothing
tried analyze unmatch refresh meta
did the search options 2005 etc
still stays blank ill rety move the file out too orginal and then plex dance and see what happens

nope damn thing keeps forcing to 2006 i didnt put the second edition one in yet
and there is no fix match…
2nd pic shows
i added back the 2nd edition folder and its bck to duplicated

maybe you can make 2 files on your system see if it does it for you
loose change (2005)
loose change second edition (2005)

loose change

loose change 2nd eiditon

i know i have a jackie chan movie 2 are doing the same as loose change will not work with the nfo or anything i re deleted tryin again too…
ill let you know

I was able to match the first one manually with The TMDB agent.
The second one did not match, there was only the 2006 movie as a hit. Which is explainable, since the second edition is not listed on TMDB. They have only the original and the ‘final cut’ version.

I was able to include the second version as a ‘local extra’ of the first one.

/ Movies
   / Loose Change (2005) - (tt3029910)
      Loose Change (2005) - (tt3029910).mkv
      Second Edition-featurette.mkv

The only explanation I have why you couldn’t even match the first one correctly is that you made some mistake during the Plex Dance
It must be performed exactly as written: all steps in the right order. And only if Plex server is not still busy doing other things, particularly not while it’s updating libraries or metadata.

i tried several times… also like i mentioned i deleted the libraries… and re add them
but
i did the plex dance several times and then i moved the file in and then it automaticlly linked it to 2006 and doing the Fix match and like you seen 2005 doesnt do anything to fix it…
so since it uses TMDB how do you make sure plex uses IMDB which seems to be more up to date
ill give that -(tt302…) a try and see what happens

thanks for trying as well
