2 Machines with separate HDDs, 1 network, 1 combined library available on Plex app?

Hi- I’m sure this has been posted somewhere- but i’ve looked high and low and have not been able to find something that I can follow. Here is my situation:

  1. I have my main iMac where I’ve been running my PMS. This has worked great, but I’m now out of hard drive space.
  2. I have a second machine, a MBP, that I’m curious if it can run PMS simultaneously under my same account, so that I might be able to fit more media in my library.
  3. Both machines are consistently on the same network.

Is there a way I can set a secondary server on the MBP, so that I can at least select between the two libraries from within the Plex app on another device (xbox, ps4, etc.)?

Again, my apologies if this has been beaten to death on this forum- but I figure there HAS to be a way and I just can’t seem to find a straight answer.

If both machines are on the same network. Couldn’t you just make a network share on the MBP and map it on the iMac and add it to the existing PMS library (select a second path on the lib)?

@mjhutton86 You can install several PMS’s in different machines and use the same login credentials. Users will see different libraries in each server. If you want users seeing the same library irrespective of media being located on iMac or MBP then you need a network share as @mm98 suggested.

Thanks guys- network share worked like a charm!
