I’m interested to know if anyone out there has 2 Plex servers running on their home network for splitting the live and sync/optimized versions transcoding duties? I know there is a Plex Remote Transcoder app out there for Ubuntu but it isn’t mature yet and is only available for Ubuntu.
I think it might work well to split the transcoding duties so that one server is used for live Direct Play/transcoding and the 2nd is used for all Sync and Optimized Versions transcoding. This way one does not affect the other. The “prioritize streaming transcodes” setting is not enough because I want Sync transcodes to go as fast as possible and not have to be paused while live streaming is happening since those two duties tend to happen the most at the same time (at night).
I tried to add a 2nd server under my account on a virtual machine.
Both using ubuntu server.
I got the impression that plex.tv allows only one server per premium account.
I say this because, only the last server up was accessible remotely, and the first server got disconnected.
This behaviour occurred 3 releases ago, I have not yet tested the newer release.

Something fishy is going on with your config because you can definitely have multiple servers up and accessible at once. I already have this going on at this time (my main server and my backup server (very low CPU power).
