I find that frequently i have more people on the server than the server can handle. It would be nice to have multiple servers that the main server would farm transcoding out to. I know i could build a beefier machine but i think i can get more from having multiple servers.
The feature would be.
In plex interface only one server would show, users would select media and play it as normal. but the plex media server would start transcoding on server 1, then for the second connection it would start on server 2 and add transcoding processes to each of the separate servers as load is increased.
As far as interface goes when viewing the activity tab you would see each device and what it is playing, as it is now, but below that would be the server name handling the transcoding.
Taking a server on/offline should also be manageable via the plexweb client.
Having the interface only show one server to the user (1 library to view) and not needing the user to know which server to connect to that has the least load is critical so that the feature is seamless to the user. This could be an effortless feature for users and minor setup for people managing their plex server(s).
