2 songs playing at the same time

Dear Plex Team,

I would like to express my appreciation for the excellent services you provide through the Plex platform. I have been a devoted and paying user for quite some time and have consistently enjoyed the seamless streaming experience it offers.

However, I am writing to bring up an issue that seems to be affecting a significant number of Plex users, including myself. It has come to my attention that there is a serious and widespread problem with overlapping/crashing songs, leading to disruption in the seamless playback of music media content. Many of us are experiencing this distressing issue and it is impacting our overall satisfaction with the otherwise outstanding Plex platform.

With an increasing number of users reporting this problem in various forums and communities, it is evident that this issue requires immediate attention. Though it may be challenging to determine the exact cause of the problem, I kindly request you to prioritize this matter and allocate all necessary resources to resolve it swiftly. By doing so, you would not only alleviate the frustrations of existing users, but also ensure a pleasant streaming experience for new users who are yet to discover Plex.

The prominence and reputation of Plex make you the go-to platform for those who seek reliable and uninterrupted media streaming services. Therefore, I believe it is imperative for Plex to acknowledge and address this issue urgently. By proactively resolving the overlapping/crashing sing problem, you will leave a positive impression on users and solidify Plex’s standing as an industry leader.

I kindly request regular updates regarding the progress being made to mitigate this widespread issue. It would be greatly appreciated if you could inform us of any workarounds or temporary solutions that may be available in the meantime. Additionally, if there are any troubleshooting techniques that we, as users, can apply to minimize the impact of this problem, please share them with us.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I trust that your dedicated team will take immediate action to investigate and rectify the overlapping/crashing song issue. Your commitment to building a reliable and enjoyable streaming experience is highly valued, and we eagerly anticipate a resolution that can restore the seamless playback we have come to expect from Plex.

Wishing you continued success in providing exceptional services to users worldwide.

Yours sincerely,

It’s not a solution, but I have been using PlexKodiConnect, primarily because Kodi has better audio control for downmix etc…

I am also using Kodi (on Android) to play music. It behaves much better.

I have been using that for several years for my Atmos and 5.1 surround FLAC. It works well for that.

Yea, good point, I will have Kodi scan my music library. Plex’s issues now are too severe to keep using.

I use PlexKodiConnect for music as well. Needed to set up direct paths, which nearly did my head in because of the piss poor instructions, but other than that it works.

It’s come down to using Plex as a media server only.

Anyway, Kodi can do a lot of “pretty” stuff when playing music. Like Artist Slideshow.

Cheers from a very hot South Australia…

Please conduct this major change as it renders Plex useless on an important platform (music players regining in the 90ties (think Winamp) never had any similar issues and we are now talking 2024). The bug was not there a couple of years ago (yes, it is actually that longwithstanding) so there is likely something in the code causing it that should be possible to address? I kindly ask Plex and its developers to dig deep for this one as it is embarrassing more than anything.

This is what they should do, but since when did people start doing what they should do?

Same issue here and getting worse. This bug has made plex unusable for playing Music, my main use case. I now deeply regret buying a plex pass last year.

Your excuses are not plausible. It use to work, you changed something to break it. Please resolve the bug. Is there a safe older version I can reinstall?

You evidentially lack the will to correct the bug. I can only presume that you have deprioritsed music favoring Movie and Television media.

I have migrated to Jellyfin as my music player of preference. This episode says much about Plex product and customer approach and none of it is positive.

Is it possible that this has finally been fixed in one of the latest series of updates at Android TV (currently running 10.9.1)? I have not been able to replicate the bug the last week or so on my Shield 2019. Things play smoothly when changing tracks and no mixups, which has been a problem for like 1.5 years.

Also seems like the playlist-bug where it randomly chose the song above or below the one selected is gone? If so, credit where credit is due!

After a few minutes of testing. Both issues seem to have been resolved. Although I have had this clear up before and come back. Let’s hope it stays fixed!

Edit: I am on 10.9.1.5708 on my 2019 shield, windows 11 server, latest version 1.40.0.7998.

Played around with Shield/Android Plex v 10.9.1 / PMS Server 1.40.1.8120 and the music section seems to be fixed finally (over a year later

Tested selecting tracks, now the actual selected track play and music keeps playing as you browse Plex library. Also no 2 tracks at the same time. Thanks for devs for getting onto this.
