Hi
I have several movies in 4K and HD on my Plexserver (Synology DS918+).
The strange thing is that sometimes in the movie details the HD version is shown by default and sometimes the 4K version.
Is there a possibility the have always the highest resolution to be showed per default?
Thanks for any input.
Regards Alain

My advice would be to separate your 4K media and place it in a separate library. That way, you will be able to select it and play it only when you are able to and not select it when you are unable to play it.
I’ve seen this before as well and I always found it odd.
The suggestion here seems counter-intuitive for what Plex “claims” it can do. It’s no different that Optimized versions really but just managed by the end user versus using canned settings.
It would be nice if this would actually work as intended. It’d also be nice to see something similar for auto defaulting to the proper audio track from a movie based on device capability, bandwidth, etc. I encode all my media with the “surround sound” track as the first track (as watching my media at home is the main place for media consumption and I don’t want to be fiddling with this in the settings constantly). However, when I’m using my phone to watch something while travelling, it would be nice if I could get it to default to the “stereo” track option which I also include in my media.
