Hello all, running the latest and greatest of everything. All Plex server versions and Apps up to date.

Here is my question.

I currently use 1 x HDhomerun Prime 3 (It’s epic, love Plex DVR)

If I add another HDhomerun Prime so I now have 2 off them installed on the same Plex server will the live TV functionality load balance the TV tuners? Meaning 6 folks want to watch TV will Plex now know it has 6 tuners instead of 3 and will allow us to watch all tuners at once? Thanks.

In short, if I have two 3 channel tuners will Plex see that and give me access to all 6 tuners at the same time?

This is exactly the configuration I have - it load balances between the two, alternating between the two until both are saturated.

OH hey, if I may ask you another question. When you setup the second HDHRP did you have to tell it to use the same guide channels as the other DVR? I mean, did you have to setup a duplicate TV guide or does Plex just think “cool, six tuners now!” and it knows that the guide works across both pieces of tuner hardware?

Sadly, you’ll still need the cablecards from Comcast to make them work. It’s also harder to find people at Comcast that know what they’re doing with cablecards (you’ll need to provide the host and card IDs to Comcast to make them work).

Setting up the channel selection between the two is a manual process, sadly. It’s painful. The best I’ve found is to open up the plex (or HDHomeRun Prime interface if you’d rather manage the channels there) in two browser windows side-by-side and manually work the list.

Too bad so few of us have multiple tuners - otherwise, they might make that process smoother.

Yep agreed, one would assume that in a modern house 3 tuners is not enough for anyone and Plex is so good at everything else that this seems and obvious value add ability. My one HDHP works perfectly so I am hoping my second will be just as good and balance.

I am now going down the route of adding IPTV via XTeve so I can get the UK channels form my home country. Only problem I have is not is obtaining an XMLTV file. I have the m3u loction.

I wish HDHomerun Prime 6 would release.

I assume it will never release. I have never waited so badly for a product to drop. It’s going on 2 years now.
