I’m considering getting cable again due to the loss of my local sports regionals and the lower bundled costs. I am currently running the new 4k HDHomerun tuner and want that for obvious reasons going forward and I would want to use a Prime tuner for cable. Would Plex allow me to have a combined guide and use two tuners, one for OTA and the other for cable?
I used to run two OTA double tuners but they were both OTA so that’s not the same.
true, but consider if you simply utilize the dvr function, then the content becomes part of the plex tv library, and then your family/users don’t have to worry about the ‘live’ part.
I had to train my mother to use the commercial free dvr recordings, instead of watching live tv re-runs with all the commericals. /boggle
I was having problems with two guides as well. My HDhomerun and DizqueTV did not play well together. So on my main rig I have a HDhomrun and on an old laptop I installed another plex sever just for DizqueTV. I Know its not a perfect work around.
If you can find a non-plex source for your EPG, then you can use xTeve to consolidate the guides. Then you can add multiple DVRs in Plex and use the manual XMLTV xTeve EPG.
If you use the XMLTV option, you may also enable the enhanced guide option, however that is more miss than hit.
