2019 Nvidia Shield - playback freezes or "your server is not fast enough..." error

Having an issue that started last week randomly - when playing a video, tv show or movie, after an unexplained amount of time, the video just freezes. It can be after 4 minutes. Or it can be after almost 20 minutes. I can go back to the menu and restart playback, but a minute or so later, it freezes again.

I’ve followed some troubleshooting - uninstalled Plex app and reinstalled. Installed the android Beta. On both I’ve tried the old video player and new video player. I’ve tried the option to disable secure connections on both the server and client on both versions. I am on the newest beta of the server itself - just for transparency.

When I use the new player, i get the freezing. When I use the old player, i get the notification after X amount of time that the Server is not fast enough to play the content, which is 100% not true. I am running a beast of a setup in regards to my server and internet connection/network.

Something is going on - can anyone help - Plex employees??

2019 pro or tube?

I’m on the tube version.

Thats probably your problem, most of us on the tube are having an absolute horrible experience on latest plex builds. nVidia even says Plex has messed up the memory footprint on their app and are working to troubleshoot. Stuttering and crashes are frequent on the 2019 tube version sadly. Just ordered myself the pro today :-/

Is the pro back in stock? It’s been MIA for almost all of 2020.

Side note: I’ve been using the plex and the tube for a little over a month now. No issues. This has been the first time.

Yep mostof the issues on the tube have appeared recently.

where did you order it from? it’s been out of stock for months!

Amazon, best buy, and Walmart all had it in stock briefly the last 48hrs. Check out slickdeals.net and setup a deal alert for Nvidia shield tv pro.

@plex what are you guys doing about this?? Looks like a lot of people are down and can’t use plex on the Nvidia shield tube version.

You may want to check out this other thread. The Plex team is engaged there and for the first time I’ve seen them actually acknowledge a problem with the tube. They also said they’re working on some patches in an upcoming 8.1.0 version of the plex app, but there’s not ETA yet.
