2026.5.0 New Player Feedback / UI Bugs

Server Version#: 1.43.0.10492
Player Version#: 2026.5.0 (iPadOS 26.4)

Hi Plex Team,

I’ve noticed some weird UI problems and inconsistencies with the new player that have been bothering me. Below are some screenshots of what I’m seeing with some overlays on top to note estimated boundaries.

  • The episode information and top buttons are within the iPadOS status bar boundary. (Occasionally, it seems to fix itself, but comes back after restarting the app)
  • The seek bar is eating into the left boundary.
  • The play/pause indicator next to the playhead timestamp looks very out of place as it’s not contained within the timestamp container. Initially, I thought this was a bug.

Additionally, when the content is loading, the text will sometimes be cut off as shown below.

Also, I wanted to mention that since the skip buttons were removed, there isn’t a good way to move to the next item in the play queue. I’ve used these buttons frequently, and without them, it’s become quite cumbersome to skip to the next episode. Could you possibly add skip buttons in the same area next to the seek buttons? Any button on the player to do this would be great.

Just wanted to make sure these issues were known so they can be passed on and addressed.

Thank you!

Just wanted to add to this another issue.

The little down arrow brings up all episodes (nice) but I can not find any way to get rid of this menu after it’s showing.

My issue is that I can no longer sort by rating. The option to do so seems to be gone on my ipad OS. Has it been moved? If so, I cant find it.

Why do they keep inventing new ways to make the player experience worse?

I woke up to the most hideous interface

and please for the love of God, re-add the “shuffle” button in the same area.

I’m noticing a flicker in the background whenever the subtitle changes. Are you/anyone else experiencing this issue with the new player?

It is also a lucky guess of how to open the menu.

Sometimes it works, but most of the time it does not open up and I end up just scolling in the video.

It feels like this is an iPhone app now and not an iPad app. No way to skip to the next episode, and tiny up next icons for the next show now. Not sure why the new UI needed yet another broken UI update.

What is happening? How are there so many downgrades in these updates?

All of a sudden I can’t browse folders or skip to the next video in a queue! These are basic features, aren’t they?

I’m extremely frustrated with this service and very confused after being so happy with it for like a decade.

The UI has no concern for the human experiencing it. Kinda like a survivor employee outing.
