For one ep I noticed only one of the 5 tracks is showing up. When looking at Plex Media Server log I see:
Nov 20, 2020 01:25:01.158 [0x7f481681b700] ERROR - Error opening file '"/Path/to/file/01 Track Name here.mp3"' - Permission denied (13)"
Identical entries can be found for the other 4 tracks which are not shown in plex.
When I checked the log, I see a ton of those messages, but most where about album art which I put into the music album folders as jpg files. Not sure what is wrong with the files, but probably not a problem?
The mp3s with the permission issues are a problem as it seems plex will not find those.
Any idea how I can fix permissions or how those wrong permissions where introduced?
Maybe that is the problem? I keep my music not in the plex media folder but in a separate backup folder.
Would your steps still apply if I apply them to the music folder in that separate backup shared folder (outside of the plex media folder)?
Phew, I should probably change that setup so that the music folder is backed up to the plex folder instead of the separate backup folder. Ugh not so keen on loosing all media ratings, playlists and fixes of incorrect matches yet again though.
For what it’s worth the missing tracks showed up after I edited their metadata a few times. Plex now has picked up on the files.
oh that’s even better then. had not looked at that folder yet, as I was wondering about the folder structure of my media files. will apply the steps then.
Followed the steps and the files are detected (was already already the case though after fiddling with their metadata and deleting, copying them a few times).
Looking at PMS log file no new errors when running “Scan Library Files”. Will keep an eye on that.
