Plex shows all my content as unavailable

Hi,
Plex shows all my content as unavailable, all permissions should be done correct, can anyone take a look at my logs?

You do have a file permissions problem

Depending on how files are copied (especially from windows), it’s not uncommon for user plex to have permission to read the file(s) lost as the files are copied.

Linux is very strict on permissions. You can see it but user plex can’t. That’s what’s happening here.

The first steps are:

1. Confirm Control Panel - Shared Folders - EDIT the media share - Permissions tab does show user plex as having permission.
2. Now force set the READ permission for user plex.

a. Select and Right-Click the shared folder name
b. Go to the Permission tab
c. If user plex isn’t listed, Create the entry to allow READ.
d. Check the box to “Apply to this folder, sub-folders, and files”
e. Click OK and let it update the permissions.
f. When complete - go back to Plex and Scan Files again.

It looks like plex already had permission in both the controle panel - shared folders and in file station, but i’m not sure that i’m in the right places, i also dont see the “Apply to this folder, sub-folders, and files” box that you have in your screenshot?

yes, you’re in the wrong place.

Shared Folder permissions are there – that part is right.

However, you need correct the individual file permissions.

FileStation - RightClick the desired share - Properties.

I’m pretty sure that what i’m doing ? but my “Edit Shared Folder” window does not look like yours ?
Do i have the right DSM version? DSM 6.2.3-25426 Update 2, it says its up to date

Maybe u should know i had this problem before, Plex can't find my media anymore
back then i used SSH to do something i dont remember and i cant see the posts from the guy who helped me back then. i also cant find the guide that i used.
maybe that has something to do with why mine looks diffrent that yours? just a wild guess

What I am showing you is pure DSM 6.2.2

1. Open FileStation
2. Go to the shared folders list in the left pane
3. Click the one you want
4. Right click it to bring up “Properties” . Go there.
5. See the “Edit Shared Folder ” popup (Animated in this example)
6. Click “Apply to this folder, sub-folders, and files (lower left”
7. Now click “Create”
8. Observe “Permission Editor” opens
9. Use the drop down in “User or group” to find and select “plex”
10. Go into the Permission pane
11. Check the “Read” box.

12. Click OK.
13. Observe “plex” has been added to the list
14. The “Apply to this folder, sub-folders, and files” should still be checked

15. Click “OK” and let it apply the permissions.

Should this fail, there is a way to do it via SSH but that’s pretty hard core / low level.
I can direct you through that if needed

Thats what i have been doing, but when i get to step 5. it looks like this:

I tried to make a new shared folder to test, at step 5. i get the same “edit shared folder” as u show in your screenshot, and when i put content in the folder and add it in plex library, plex finds it like before. the question is why my old shared folders dont have the same “edit shared folder” pop up

OK, so that worked, again, you were the one helping last time too, but it kinda annoys me that i cant do it the “right” way, no idea why i cant ? im sure next time i run into the problem i will have forgotten how to do it again also thanks for the advise , ill try out “filebot”

Yea i will write it down this time
